Maybe read the article properly instead of swallowing the clickbait BS.

“Rival clubs believe” = gut feelings, nothing definitive. 2 months ago it was “rival clubs believe” he was pies bound until it looked like he might re-sign.

They’re guessing, which mean that no, they aren’t actually reporting it’s Suns or Hawks and nothing else at all.

Gruzewski dropped - I know Walter is the chat but I think I'd much prefer Max for a 2nd round pick and take a midfielder with our first than pay our first plus maybe more for Walter if he wants out.

Neale, Gruzewski, Ballard and to keep our first round pick would be one hell of a trade period.

If Hawks want those 3, they will get them 100% - they are ruthless like Saints and take risks, we tend to look at has-beens or older or fringe players and overpay them
Not sure you can compare Flanders, TDK, Silvagni and Ryan to Merrett, King and Humphrey.

If Hawthorn want them, that’s about 6 x first round picks, none of which will be a top 10 pick.

They could probably get two of them if they give up players like Moore, Lewis, Dear, Nash, etc.

They could swap Watson and Ginni  🤣

Gruzewski or Calsher Dear would be cheaper trade wise than Walter and arguably have shown as much at AFL level

He’s one I always look at and think he would be a good get.

I’d be happy with either him or Walter.

Don’t think I was comparing ? More output

Whichever way things fall, I really hope we keep this year's top two picks.
Trading in players from other clubs can come from future picks.
We need to hold the line this time.

Is Ballard any good? If he isn't walking into our starting line up then I am not that keen.

Is Ballard much of an upgrade on Howes? Puncher?

At his best, he's absolutely MILES ahead of those two on proven ability. Across his 138 senior games he averages 2.8 intercept marks per game, which is elite territory.

The question is can he get back to that form after the ACL.

Personally, I'd love for us to get him if the Suns are looking to offload his salary.

Whether we get Walter or not; by getting GC to stump up 5 x $1m instead of 2 x $750k, we’ve already done our job.

Now let’s watch our new intercepting defender for cheap train for the Suns…

I think he came out and said he wants to stay at West Coast but I really liked the look of Bailey Williams from West Coast when we played them. I think he could form a really good tandem with DC.

RFA from Victoria, 26, Athletic and really good in the air. I think he could be a really good target.

Umm? More money?
Maybe you should be asking why your club is trying to re-sign him right now on bigger money, then try to figure out why he's refusing.

Geelong re-signed Bailey Smith recently on bigger money even though he was already signed long term.

This is the nature of the industry.
Certain elite players who know their body won't fail them and are confident that they can sustain this level until the next contract extension will usually play until the contract runs out to maximise their leverage.

Look at the games biggest stars in ablett, Franklin, dangerfield, lynch, cameron, they all ran waited until their contract ran out before signing lucrative mega contracts.

Nick would be stupid to sign anything before he is in his final year of his contract.

Even if Nick misses games due to to injuries over the next 2 seasons, he has built up so much cache for his age that clubs with the salary cap space will not hesitate for a second to make him an eye watering offer.

That makes a bit more sense - returning from injury etc stint in VFL to regain his touch

Wow Jed Walter - great goal.
