Their will CCTv footage of the incident if it happened in a club. Police would have viewed that before arresting him. It’s not looking good for Noah

Yes they would have but they’d still press charges regardless as an injury was sustained , hopefully the cctv footage is favorable and a good lawyer will get the charges either dropped or lessened

Just on this, you can absolutely be charged with a crime like assault if you hand yourself in and even if it was in self defence.

It is then the defence teams Job to prove it was self defence.

In criminal matters the onus is always on the prosecution to prove their case - beyond a reasonable doubt.

The defence will try to cast doubt on that case by explaining away the evidence the prosecution submits. The defence does not have to prove Balta was acting in self defence. The prosecution has to prove he wasn't.

My brother was formally charged and summonsed for assaulting a Police Officer(female,) among other less serious charges including speeding based on nothing other than the Police Officer's guess of how fast he was driving. I called the prosecutor and informed him my brother would defend those two charges in particular. I advised him he would need to actually prove the officer was assaulted and also the speed my brother was travelling and went through with him what he would be up against in order to prove those two offences, in short, based on the brief, the facts, and the relevant law he would have next to no chance given a fair hearing. The prosecutor agreed to drop those two charges. In return my brother agreed to plead guilty to swearing in public hear and damagingthe Police Officer's badge, obviously relatively minor charges.

The point here is that just because you are charged by the Police, it is no certain indication of anything. They make errors all the time in charging people, sometimes glaringly obvious errors.
