Agree that Hawthorn's offer is better than St Kildas. Hawks is fair, saints is obvious unders, clearly trying to exploit Carlisle's preference as far as it can go. I'm sure most clubs would do the same thing if situations were reversed.

I hope like hell 5 isn't on the table but don't let your current frustration with St Kilda cloud your judgement, you look silly trying to state that you'd rather two picks.

One of those two picks can be packaged to GWS for pick 8, still giving us a top 10 pick while keeping one of our second rounders and an extra first rounder.

It's essentially:

pick 15, 18, 23 and 25

Or

Pick 5. Yeah no deal

It takes away any sort of leverage the Saints foolishly think they have based on this latest offer.

The whole idea behind this deal is that St Kilda provide wriggle room for us to get them down to Carlisle+25(or 23) for pick 5.
I doubt that they actually think we'll take that deal, but they clearly want more then just a straight swap for Carlisle and pick 5

Nah **** them. They could have done that on Tuesday but instead they ****ed around and now they're paying the price. PSD is off the cards. Either they give us pick 5 or they don't get him at all. We have absolutely nothing to lose anymore. Based on the offer Hawthorn gave, I'm not sure how anybody could argue that pick 5 isn't reasonable for a team that really wants him...

We're arguing two different things mate. St Kildas offer is a joke I agree, but we have no need to rush the deal, if we have to take our time to get a bargain but lose him to a club who pays a fair price I don't see the issue.

I was just calling out the people who are saying pick 5 isn't as good as 15 and 18... That is just absurd.

Next step is 5 for Carlisle and 25, if that is still a no from you guys I just hope we pull out.

This isn't a matter for egos or club statuses St Kilda and Hawthorn need to decide what they can offer that still improves their list, Essendon need to find the best deal for them (that Carlisle would agree to), there will be a sweet spot that will be found.

Making comments about Billings being involves shows that people are more interested in one-upmanship rather than actually seeing a deal happen. Same applies for the St Kilda galoots going on about the PSD.

Saints aren't smart enough to exploit anything. They've gone from 5 off the table to 5 on the table but they want to split it into two, then they seemingly gave up on that because they were rebuffed due to again wanting something for nothing (if you accept the 5 for 9 and 13 rumoured deal), then the last 48 hours has involved lots of boot quaking and pant shitting but for no actual result.

Now they've come to the party with an offer that could easily land us pick 1, let alone pick 5 and expect to be patted on the head and given a biscuit.

You could have done the deal that I amongst probably a thousand other people suggested by 10.15 on monday morning and actually looked good in doing so.
