Didn't he already do that? Give the Saints a chance to match, otherwise he's happy to become a Hawk.
Either way, get the deal done today!!

We might even join the Aish race if the Carlisle deal is done early.
Maybe. If we get the Hawthorn deal, yes. St. Kilda, no.Unless 23 and 25 can be traded to GWS for 8.
I think situation at the moment is CArlisle will go to Saints if Saints wake up, but would be quite happy to go to Hawks if it falls through, even with slightly less pay. I think he and his manager don't want to look too greedy by just completely changing their mind. Wonder if Carlisle is secretly wishing Hawks deal comes through.

Yes of course. I'm slightly leaning towards the Hawthorn deal being more favourable for us if GWS agree. We may even give them the assurance that we won't bid for their academy players, leaving them needing less points.Maybe. If we get the Hawthorn deal, yes. St. Kilda, no.

Yeah. I'd give up those two picks for 8 if we had the extra first round pick, but I'd rather take 4, 5, 23, 25 to the draft than 4, 5 and 8.Picks 4, 8, 15, 18 and 44 sounds awesome. It may be a shallow draft, but the top 20 or so are still quality prospects. Smartest thing to do in a shallow draft is load up on first rounders.

He is. But this is the first time in a long time that we've had so many early picks that can be used effectively enough to get a mini-rebuild done in a couple of seasonsSaints wanting Pick 5 for Carlisle and our Second.
Aish is a talent. You'd have to have a look at him if the opportunity arose.
think of jake - pretty skittish at the best of times.
here you have a club come out of the blue and stump up 2 first rounders.. saying we. want. you. and here is what we will pay for you.
then you have this other mob, twisting and turning and offering nothing... letting everything fester and stew. He must be thinking how much do they even care? how much do they think im worth? do they care if they miss me?
even if they do sign him i reckon he will be on the back foot mentally. Its poor poor player managment

Are the saints even trying to get another first round pick if they wont part with 5? Seems to me they have made up their minds and arent gonna offer anything more than their 2nd pick and the only thing they are working on is getting Carlisle to commit only to them so they can get him cheap.
Yep, basic feedback on Jake is that he isnt gonna send rockets to the moon - and he can flip flop his position on things nearly daily.
Dodoro has obviously got insight to his personality, and used that in an attempt to check-mate St. Kilda.
But, the way I see it it is complicated for the Saints. They have committed to 2 players, and have NFI how to get them both! Collingwood wont cop a 2nd rounder for Freeman, and we wont cop a 2nd rounder obviously for Carlisle.
Saints have tried to downgrade #5 to two lower first round picks, and nobody is biting & nobody wants the rubbish players they are throwing around. They don't know what to do.
Further to complicate this, Rich and Haw offers clearly show Carlisle's value - if a pick is towards the end of the first round, then 2 picks are required.
St. Kilda know he is worth #5, but giving it up probably means losing Freeman. That is their dilemma.
Isn't this exactly the situation that future draft picks were brought in for? I would be OK with next years #1 draft pick for Jake. Its likely to be a stronger draft as well. They just want to have their cake and eat it too.
Yep, but any St. Kilda official putting that up would surely get sacked on the spot.
They are young and very fragile - the wrong injury or two, and that could easily be a top 3 pick or even #1. Would have to be nukin futz to do that!
Thats my impression as well. Surely if it goes to mediation it wont look good for them. Also AFL will be under pressure from Sydney if Hawks get Carlisle so AFL would prefer a saints deal. I think that is good for us.Yeah i reckon their whole strategy is "stall for time and they will give him up for a 2nd round pick at the death knell". Its all based on securing Carlisle first and then extorting a favourable deal as we run out of time. Otherwise they would be more open and communicating with us to work out a deal. I don't think its coincidence that nothing has happened from the Saint's side - they want this to move as slowly as possible. Basically they aren't dealing in good faith.
I really, really hope that Carlisle ends up accepting Hawks deal. It will end up being so much better than what we would get from Saints.
