I remember meeting him and Pears at the supermarket heaps (Orazio, Gregory and Dalgleish are the boys there all the time now) and was amazed at how tall he was and how mature he was. I was in my 30s and he was 18/19 and was twice as mature as me! Straight forward no excuses kind of bloke yet took everything in his stride.

A midfield with Watson, Goddard, Heppell, Myers and O'Brien all playing in the guts is huge and will be tough for all teams except Freo to counter act. I am glad we're putting plenty of pace on the flanks and in the pockets to add some outright speed to that. Stanton's run is best on a wing.

Someone needs to post that .gif of him holding his jumper and yelling **** you.

EDIT: I think there are two separate .gifs I am thinking of, one where he holds his jumper passionately and one where he says **** you...

And I think you might be right about Myers being captain material. Heppell along with Zaharakis seem a little too dumb to be the skipper. The leadership group is fine for them but you need a thinker at the helm.

It was slightly tongue in cheek because I think Heppell has it locked in, but he does show glimpses of great leadership.

This seems like the correct thread, on Monday night at 7pm Foxtel the replay of round 22 vs Carlton is on. So we can all enjoy seeing Myers again politely salute the AFL/Vlad and also relive one of the biannual thrashing of Carlton from 2013.
That alone was the highlight of the year, beating the Blues twice.

:D

Any known reason why he was left out of the side to play GC?

Same reason Watson, Goddard and Melksham missed, and I assume Zaharakis, Stanton and Heppell will miss the Port game.

Red and Black Preview, #23, David Myers

Myers swings onto the left

Age: 24

Height: 191cms

Weight: 88kgs

Games: 65

Position: Midfield

Fantasy Relevance: Draft Leagues Only

Look Out For: Cannon left boot, Strength in the clearances, goals from the centre square

Persistent hamstring injuries have held him back in the past, but with those seemingly behind him, David Myers is beginning to have the impact that he has always promised.

The number 6 selection in the 2007 draft has struggled for consistency in previous years, but after playing 20 games in a season for the first time in his career he has the perfect platform to take his game to the next level.

Along with his sheer size and strength, his standout attribute is his raking left foot. Being able to hit targets more than 60 metres away makes him an incredible asset and someone his teammates can give the ball to with absolute confidence.

What to expect in 2014: Myers will have his first pre-season run on Saturday when he turns out in a VFL practice match against Williamstown, however he is still on course for round 1.

Expect Myers to play much the same role as he has in previous years, alongside Watson and Hocking as one of Essendon’s go to inside midfielders. Look for him to win a lot of ball on the inside, and break sides open with flat, fast and low passes to teammates, and for him to snare a few goals from outside the 50 metre arc throughout the season.
