Didn't do much today as the sub and struggled to get away from opponents. Might get more game time next week.

Thoughts on where he's at and whether dropping him to Casey for such a long period was good for his development?

In short - he's nowhere at the moment and I'm not sure what he brings to the team.

What's the plan for him? Are we trying to develop him into a midfielder, or is he just going to be a small forward who drifts in and out of the game?

Yeah, I've got doubts at the moment, and that's not just cos he wasn't good today.

Still, his first game back after a fair while out so I'm definitely not writing him off.

A good question above re what is JKH's role down the track - mid or HFF?

I don't see much to work with there. Even the things he's meant to do well, he does poorly. Wouldn't be the first little guy to have a few good games and then burn out.

Fair question. I honestly don't know how he's been played at Casey, others might have some insight there and on his performances.

When he was dropped earlier this year I didn't like it because I thought he'd learn more in the seniors but I understood that he wasn't performing well enough to keep his spot. The opportunity is there for another small forward with mid stints if he's good enough.

Has played 1 game at Casey all year. Plus 1/2 in a development league game. His was a totally baffling selection today. Went to Darwin and Hadn't played for at least 2 weeks and then asked to impact as a sub. And predicted wet conditions were never going to suit.

This was typical of some of the inept selections this year.

He played a couple in the VFL and was excellent against North Ballarat. Needs to be played because his skills are good and he takes the game on. We have too many turnover merchants and guys who are unable to move the ball quickly, he's one of the few who can. He's hardly the one to blame when he's played a quarter and it also happens to be the quarter we almost ouch the game.

I was skeptical of his inclusion, although I think playing him as sub was a good move.

But my skepticism was warranted, I thought. He doesn't kick goals and struggles to put himself into positions where he'll win the ball. Yes coming on as sub is difficult but I have to admit I don't think a full game would have produced much more from him.

Hes a midfielder who can have stints in the forward line, Doesnt have the pace like Garlett to create chances but does have a good sidestep
Ive still got faith in him becoming a player but not in our forward line when we just bomb it to outnumbered contests

6-8 weeks back from the pack JKH. I worry whether he's going to be in our best 22 moving forward, and it was a long time ago (Mar 2015) that he extended until the end of 2017. Trade bait or are we confident he has the goods?

I want to back him in, i mean he exploded onto the scene and vanished. But now i'm not so sure anymore. I want him to do well but at the same time i want the team to do well too, and i'm not sure if he can fit in it anymore. But he is still quite young and developing so i guess all we can do is give him time, the way he played at the start of 2014 some forgot how young he is

Hasn't got the weapons to succeed at the top level IMP. Will dominate any level of footy below AFL but despite his good skills and balance he doesn't have the strength nor the speed to make it.
Agree.

Agree, unfortunately.. If he was a bit quicker the strength wouldnt be as much of an issue due to his great skills and good decision making.. but being small AND slow isnt great.

He is an exceptional trainer and very disciplined, so that will go a long way towards us giving him every chance.

I can see us spruiking him around as trade bait, and if nothing takes our fancy, giving him another year.

Odds are against him, but would like to see him given a month in the seniors at some point, just to make sure

We don't stick players in the ones to confirm we want to get rid of them any more.
