The former number 1 draft pick had a solid 2007, happered by a cronic back injury missing the prelimnary finals against west coast and Geelong, Fraser is one of collingwoods best players, when fraser plays well, the magpies usually will win, re-signed with collingwood for the next 3 years, Fraser hopes to have A injury free 2008,

“I’ve got no doubt my best footy’s still to come. I’ve used the break to not only go away and freshen up, but to do some training to make sure the injury issues I had towards the latter part of the year don’t raise their head again."

frasers hopes for 2008 are high after collingwood's young guns showed promise in 2007, and believes they are heading in the right track "“In terms of 12 months down the track, I want to get the club, or help get the club back to playing finals football, and being a kick away from playing off in a grand final, we’ve got a little bit of work to do, but as I said, I think this group’s got it in them.” with the recruitment of former Lion Cameron Wood, Collingwood hopes fraser will not be overworked in the ruck, and be able to show his amazing athleticism.

Wow, you learn something new everyday! I never realised Fraser had kicked that many goals.
I hope he can go up forward next year more, he could provide a real headache for the opposition. :thumbsu:

NAB cup round 1- Collingwood vs. Adelaide.

to be honest didnt notice fraser much, didnt seem to go forward to help out, or run around the ground, might have had the gastro that was around the boys, did a few nice taps in the ruck, but mostly unseen, to be fair, the whole team didnt do anything much, but for someone who is touted as a possible captain of collingwood, I expected a better performance. sorry for the short analysis, I had to play football this morning so I had a early night, If i can muster up the courage to watch that aweful display again I'll have a more in depth analsyis of Frasers game.

off we go to albany!

He's been belted from pillar to post by big bodied rucks since debut. We must get a front line ruck to relieve him otherwise his career maybe immensely shortened. let him loose on the wing to kick goals from 50, very hard to match on. What do you think?
will be number 1 ruckmen, but will definetly be helped by the recruitment of wood.

Rogan will never be a wingmen imo but will play a very damaging floating ruckmen role now that he gets support.

Josh Fraser is fit and ready for a big 2008

Josh Fraser’s decision to withdraw from the leadership group during 2007 was based on his body, but now he’s healthy and eager to perform as vice-captain.

Fraser was officially named Scott Burns’ deputy on Thursday, having been elected deputy vice-captain behind Nathan Buckley and James Clement in 2007.

However the 26-year-old ruckman, who battled ongoing back problems throughout last year, withdrew from the leadership group mid-season.

But as Fraser explained at Thursday’s announcement, he is fully recovered from his back injury and ready to re-establish himself as one of Collingwood’s leaders.

“I’m more comfortable with where my body’s at, a lot more comfortable with being able to perform the role of a leader on field,” Fraser said.

“I guess pulling out of the leadership group last year was a combination of things, largely due to the fact I didn’t think I could contribute the way I wanted to and it gave some of the younger guys an opportunity.”

Having completed the bulk of the pre-season campaign and back to being fully fit, Fraser is now focused on being a leader again both on and off the field.

“I didn’t put my hand up until post-Christmas to have a crack at this leadership again, and I basically wanted to make sure my body was sound and I was ready to go.”

Fraser goes into season 2008 having played 156 games since his debut in 2000, and will be crucial to Collingwood's chances of improving on last year's preliminary final finish.

This isn't footy news as such, but at the family day Eddie took it upon himself to tell everyone that Joshy got engaged over the summer. Josh was very embarassed :D
Maxwell passed the msg up first thats why fraser looked at him first lol, but yes congrats to the big rogan

thanks guys for updating this, i just got my new job so been busy working hard, congrats to big josh on popping the question, think i heard this on the squawk too, tarks and jack anthony giving him shit for taking so long, onto the game today, sorry late reply had to work tonight, came home watched the game on tape and been drinking.

to be honest im worried about big frase...wood was just superb, taps to advantige and around the ground he was just great way better then richards or bryan (whom i love just for his physicality) fraser for one of the senior players and possible captain just didnt push himself into the game, I loved the game though, thought it was a real team effort no one really starred but everyone played their part, but im dissapointed in josh, didnt hold enough marks, didnt run hard enough and god..out marked by peter bell?? he's disagraced me already!! didnt get enough of it, I think woods already passed him for ruck honors in one game, i think the only place for fraser is maybe in the forward line now poor rusling is out for a while

stats

Kicks- 8
handballs-3
disposals-11
marks- 8 (not good enough for a possible forward im sorry)
hit outs- 11
Frees for- 0
frees against-1
tackles-2
goals-0
behinds-1

Good game by big fras, bringing wood into the team has really helped josh, taken the pressure off him in the ruck to just allow him to roam around the ground helping wherever he has to, went back and helped out, went forward a bit, wouldve liked to see him go forward more and kick some goals, but with our forwardline already pretty full he's content to just roam around the middle, did better in the ruck, though wood is a better ruckman, josh held his own and did some nicely worked taps, especially early in the game worked hard to tackle and pressure the richmond midfield which i thought helped us alot with some clearances, isnt dominating the game like id want him to, but is contributing to the team and doesnt make errors
Id post his stats but the afl website is not working for me so ill add them later when i can, good game josh!

had to work again missed the game, gonna watch it either tonight or tommorow so ill update it when i do, apparently was one of his best games he's played, so im excited, shame about the loss but least big josh is doing well
