I guess it just goes to show that looking in from the outside you don't really know what the coaches really value in a player's output.

He was below his best possessions-wise but I'd guess with Martin being the primary distributor of half back Redman is being used more as an interceptor and possibly also more of a lockdown role.

That sums it up. Martin and McGrath pushing up the ground. Redman staying back and defining or intercepting. Hard to notice unless you are actually looking for it which it would seem most of us have not .

It was hard not to notice this ā€¦

21 disposals
6 marks

10 intercepts

Well most did notice this week because of the intercept marks. His numbers where similar in the Saints game other than being well down on the intercept marking number . Easy to post it now. A lot of the comment was from after the Port game and his round 1 game was okay. He is playing a different type of role and 4 games in the picture is a bit clearer.

Just looking at our boards MVP thread most did miss it.

Worked his way into the game nicely last night. Stayed calm during Adelaides 6 goal run, played a big part in helping us settle, and then eventually regain the lead and win. Nice balance of defending and setting up play with his kicking

Think maybe just playing different role with Kelly up the ground a bit more. Seems redman taken on some of Kelly's defensive duties/role.

Whilst others mcgrath, Martin get up the ground he has to stay back and cover more. Can make a good contest but not sure of his one on one stats.

Though he was okay against the Eagles, but agree we need one long hand off bomb to confirm he is back in form.

He was fantastic on the weekend

However, he ran under the ball 2-3 times that I can remember and let it out the back. Needs to tidy that up

Interviewed by Sam Edmund and David King this morning.
Keeping a lid on it. But summed it up with what they do in training has to be brought into game day every week otherwise means nothing. To me that says that this isnā€™t just something they do when the heat is on - itā€™s part of their game now. Entrenched.

Other points:
  • Ben McKay and his efforts against Hogan and his inclusion to the team
  • Zach Merret and his leadership
  • Backline and he says will be stoked when rids is back this week or next.

Interview available on SEN. Not sure if I can paste a link to it here but worth a listen.

Go redders!

Been super harsh on him this year but he was awesome last week. Hope he's found his feet now with Martin stealing his chips
