the KPD player we have been crying out for a long long time

no panic, beats his man, deals with whatever gets thrown his way

imagine what he will be like in 50-100 games time, far out

amazing! a revelation! ... was that fourth, fifth game? he took charge in the last quarter, including that last kick into the 50 ... could so easily have looked to offload, make it someone else's problem but he thought fast and did what he had to do ...
and yes, he seems so fast and agile for a big bloke ...
what a ripper!

I rewatched the fourth quarter, and I'm just in awe of the decision-making, execution, and composure that Edwards had to help us win the game.

Prior to his debut, I kept thinking about the future of our backline and how jealous I was of Geelong getting O'Sullivan the one year they dropped out of the finals. After tonight, that feeling has completely dissipated.

Edwards has absolutely got what it takes to be our main man down back for the long term.

Love him and love that he kicks it 70 , should of been paid another mark but fumbled at the last bit , but he misses a few going forward , but wow if he bursts to the front and clunks a few , look at to the rest

Would we be ballsy enough to say yesterday was Edwards breakout game?
I would say more of a "legitimising" game.

His breakout was arguably his first or second games, when he showed he looked well and truly comfortable at the level and someone who could be capable of being more than just a depth player.

Yesterday was genuinely tough circumstances for a young defender to be in. Already undermanned down back, then we lose our back-line leader, and it's a tight, tough game where every play counted, and Edwards just stepped right up and played better than we'd seen from him to date. It kinda adds much more credibility to what was already a very promising start to his career.

well summed up ... his composure and maturity in the heat of the last quarter were so impressive

Crazy to think he was really our only key defender on the ground for almost half of the game and that seemingly only caused him to take his game to another level.

That screams leadership potential to me longer term.

At the very least able to perform without someone telling him what to do. Great sign at such an early stage.
I get a great view of him at the SCG and let me tell you when he hits them, they stay hit. Just what every team needs.

yes indeed! ... edwards hits hard and he gets to them fast ... for a big guy, there's nothing "lumbering" about him
he also seems to have good hand skills, and definitely good vision
i liked him from the start as the big physical presence we've needed in defence for years, but he's actually quite a bit better than i thought, or even hoped ...
our recruiters did a remarkable job getting serong and rosas in with curnow, but edwards may be the most exciting development of the season so far (i say so far because i'm saving space for harry kyle)

In yesterday's Sportsday Daniel Hoyne talked a bit about Edwards - he was a second rated key defender of the round, best rated player of the 4th quarter of Swans-Saints game and 4th rated player of the game.

He's an absolute beauty
