Jesus, talk about a sense of entitlement some of you people have. Flapping your arms about and complaining no announcement or an intention announcement - same thing was going on about no coach being named and then that got done and everyone seems to have gotten over that pretty quickly. This will be done if it's legit soon enough and I'm sure immediately people will get over how aggrieved they feel during this waiting period.

I am happy to be proven wrong, but I don't think we will get as much out of Chappy as what everyone thinks

Sort of agree, would have preferred Nick Del Santo or both would have been great.

The big positive is he can go forward and run though the middle, biggest positive isn't so much what he does but who he frees up for the opposition are going to need to keep an eye on him.

I'd argue it's a more intangible factor- his leadership and presence- which will be just as important a benefit for us of his improvement.

The guy has been there and done it, multiple times. He's also one of the best 'clutch' players I've ever seen.

If we can keep him fit for finals then he's the type of forward we need. Match winning mid range forwards we are lacking in greatly. He also has a fair bit of campaigner about him which will go a long way ...

More importantly.. has anyone done a background check on Chapman!?!?!

My thources tell me he has athothiated with convicted dopers, cheats and criminals thuch as Mark Thompthon and Dean Robinthon.

efa

Really happy with us getting him onboard. Offers the fwd line some genuine leadership, esp to blokes like Kommer, Merrett, NOB etc... and provided those tissue like hammy's stand up, think can be a genuine match winner for us as well.

If anything I thought he was arguably the Cats best player in the two finals he played this year!!

Chappy started the season on fire, had 1 soft tissue injury.. then rushed back.. and got the second one.. rumour is that he was fine from around round 18 onwards but Geelong played conservative.. he then came back and played a month of great football at the end of the season.

TBH.. even if he just repeated those 8 games with us next season.. I'd be rapt..

I think his body will hold up to another full season..probably two..

It's not done yet..but it's looking very likely.

Just hope we are the only club fully committed to getting him on the list.

Don't want some other mob to snap him up at the last minute...but I'm sure Bomber will convince him.

Correct! I am absolutely spewing we knifed Chappy...yes knifed. He played awesome when he returned but was given absolutely no respect from the club. Was given the vest in his 250th game at Kardinia Park...we were thinking about ripping the new stand down when we saw him walk back to the bench before the first bounce. I couldn't believe the blatant disrespect!!! That was the moment I knew there was big trouble in little China. Cook then couldn't stop opening his gob about Chappy getting old and having to realise his time might be up, etc etc. When is it the CEO's job to comment on Football matters? Especially when you're talking about a bloke who owns Geelong, like Chappy does. If anyone was a one club player it was Chapman!

He was still playing like a young champ...Against Brisbane he saved the game for us by bodylining the ball, and against Port Adelaide (in final) he single handedly got us back in the game. He is all class. He will rip it up next year. I hope he kicks a bag against us too.

Ah, stuff it...I'm joining Essendon next year just to watch him. Go DONS!!!

Chapman: You're letting me go!?

Geelong: Paul, Geelong is a young side, we don't know if older players deserve a spot, frankly, we don't want to know. They're a group we can do without.

Chapman: So that's it after 14 years goodbye and good luck?

Geelong: I don't recall saying good luck.

Love it... Chapman commands you play an 'A' game when on him or he will make you look sub par... we need this type of player and a few more... It's facinating that Geelong smoked him like this and you can bet he is going to play every second like its his last...

flipping lol GFC...

I now need to go counsel my self like i did when we got BJ... I hated them both so very very much for their abilities against us...

Geelong hasn't made many mistakes in the last 10 years.. but this may well be one..

Is very much like if we told Jobe.. cya later son.. just cause he turns 31..

At some point you just have to accept that some guys have earnt the right to call quits when they are ready.. I know that is soppy but really.. if you don't have some heart then what are we? NFL franchise that just pack up and move to another state? Is that really what we want the game to be? A bunch of journey men that have no loyalty to club nor team?

Plus.. it isn't like he spent the last 15 weeks putting in sub par performance after sub par performance.. aka Mark Taylor style.. his last outing was near,if not, BOG..

Calm down guys.. deal is done.. just treading water till we can get the presser happening.. Chapman will be playing for EFC next year.. and I don't envy Geelong.. think he might have a little to prove..

Would you say he has been the biggest genuine Cat fan favourite over the last 5 or 6 glory years?

I always felt Chapman was the man, at Geelong. Even in the Ablett days, for me if Ablett didn't get ya, Chappy would. It always seemed even though he was an absolute champion, he was underrated considering his ability and real influence on matches. Guy's a gun, rapt to see him at the Bombers. Also think it was piss weak by Geelong. Incredible set shot goal kicker also.

If Chapman has signed a contract with us the least they could do would be tell us it's done.

Geez I'm getting shitty with the club.

I think I just have ZERO patience with 'waiting' for Essendon now.

I'm not here at your ****ing whim - about time they started bending over to please the fan base.

“He’ll come on the list as a delisted free agent on the first of November and we’re looking forward to getting Paul Chapman on the list next season.”

I swear to god sometimes I think they read this forum......
