Are you confusing me with somebody else? I’ve generally been a Conca defender in the past. Especially early days when he got constant comparisons to Heppell.

When we extended his contract by two years after he’d had two injury riddled seasons I criticized the club for what I consider to be a poor decision. Is that what you’re referring to?

You also realize I’m not salty cos nothing has happened yet? We are talking hypotheticals. How am I bagging a player for something that hasn’t happened?

His cv had more cred at the pies than conca , albeit his ankle was ****ed and hadn’t played good footy for 18m, not a great example

From what I've seen this season, he has improved but god we needed him too. He still manages a couple of dumb arse mistakes though, but I prefer this Reece Conca than previous years, still cant see any other team rushing to poach him from us just yet though.

He's had a few pearly moments in traffic this year, and I've thought, was that really Concs? Body of work is the key though. Only thing that would not surprise was if there is a go-home-factor - otherwise can't see another club in Melbourne offer him much or a long term contract.

May he keep the improvement happening and become a good depth option on some modest coin with RFC. There is no shame in that!

I agree with that. Yet to find anyone from Carlton who thought the reported 600-700 was on the money for him though

I suggest you read through my posts again then.

I’ve given him credit for his strengths but also pointed out he has some weaknesses that I’m not convinced won’t be highlighted when we play finals. Lots of other posters have also mentioned he is prone to some bad decisions and skill errors too. I’ve never said I don’t rate him and never said he should be dropped.

And then I speculated on something that hasn’t happened. So until that happens how could I have it in for him? I don’t even know why it’s become a topic about him leaving. He’s 26, surely the ‘go home factor’ has passed. I was simply saying I’d be disappointed if someone we stuck by and gave so many chances to upped and left as soon as he was finally fit. North were pissed when it happened to them too, can’t remember the players name but he left after they’ve stuck by him through about three years of injuries. I don’t think it’s an unreasonable position.

Dont worry just sayin, You question his ability to be good enough around finals time, yet if his manager dosn't like Richmonds budget offer and he seeks more opportunity and a better more secure deal elsewhere its a low dog act.

Before he got injured last year, he was turning me. Then this year when he came out, he played like a complete gumby. Hopefully we see some good inside contested and 'smart' dish offs. Because he usually doesnt panic dish off fearing tackles like BEllis, but stupidly dumps forward, or tries to hit a 1/10 pass thats has disastrous turnover effects. Hopefully we see 'smart' Reece for the rest of the season.

By memory he started 2017 pretty slowly too and built up form, seems to be doing the same this year. Expecting a big game from him today!

He also had 4 changers to go with his 11 touches including (or as well as) a really dumb 50m penalty. Shocking game.

Conca has credits in the bank cos his three weeks before was decent but if that’s a preview of what he’s going to dish up in finals it’s just not good enough. There’ll be other games with that kind of intensity so he’ll have other chances but as with Bellis/Houli/Grigg/Edwards in 2013-15 we don’t need H&A specialists. Houli, Grigg and Edwards especially all turned it around in a big way last year. Here’s to hoping Conca can too.

Two completely different players and years apart in experience. Stop the nonsense as Graham has only played 9 AFL games and a premiership player whereas Conca has achieved nothing in his 8 years.
You pump games into Graham everyday before Conca bc in the long run Graham has more upside.
Conca was utter rubbish today whereas at least Jack was clean with no brain fades.

No problem with his game given how much of the ball our stars got today. Played his role today like graham.

For some reason Conca was not played in the middle much until late in the game, hense he didn't get much of it. But he is the best tackler in the side bar none.
Maybe they were managing him given his injury form after a 4.5 day break. When they needed him in the last they threw him in the middle and he did well. Enough of the Conca bashing, it's like some on here want him to fail because he is exceeding their expectations. He is doing okay.

Yes he struggled to get in the game today after a solid few weeks. Played mainly off h/f. Surprise only 4 tackles, they must have been all in the last Q when they threw him back into the middle. One particularly stupid 50, bit like Rances'. I argued with you some weeks back that he was an inside mid and you laughed at me saying he was nothing of the sort. Will have to wait a few more weeks to see how things pan out.
