Sweet.
Good to see we reached our target number.
Would've been good to get more.
I'm sure plenty of bandwagoners will help us out next year...

The bandwagon is full.

C'mon c'mon, keep a lid on it :p
(nobody's said it for a while)

It's round 14 and we have 10 wins up.....I think it is fairly safe to think we will make the finals this year...that gives us a chance at the flag.....no point in keeping a lid on it anymore;):D

I'm with you chief.
Just having a dig!
I say we aim for 40,000 next year.
I honestly think we could hit it if we win the flag...
Thoughts?

Crowd Capacity at SS will always keep our numbers a bit lower than we might expect IMO. When SS can hold 35,000 people then 40,000 might be a chance. But who knows, anything can happen.

The bandwagon supporters aren't going to be the kind that will want to go to the game week in, week out. It will just be a status symbol for the posers within the community. The year before they might have been 'accidentally' dropping Eagles memberships in front of the cashiers... You're also forgetting the interstate members who wont be going to games anyway.

I doubt it, especially when we had 32k last year. There is still many in the woodwork who 'just on principle' didn't want to support the club after the poor effort last year.

I laugh at that and say what a poor attitude, to not support your team because they lost. Sure we have had a lot of heartache, so what, be positive and stand by the lads when they are down, can only bring a fantastic result.

So hypothetically we have a poor year next year, do they support the side through thick and thin 'just on principle' because we had a good year last year.

Those people give me the utter shits. It’s pretentious and silly.

I had a west coast supporter mate sign up (incl reserved seat) last year:) This year he moved overseas so wasn't interested in a Geelong membership.

Go CATS!!

Not bad numbers. Would be interested to see the final numbers for the rest of the teams. We do pretty well out of the memberships so huge numbers aren't as important for us as they are either teams, I'd reckon.

Thats true, lets just hope the bandwagoners who jumped off were people not paying too much for memberships, as long as a large percentage of the reserved seat ticket holders stayed on board i think the GFC would be pleased.

I'd just hate to think what would happen to our membership base if they played a 2006 type season this year......but luckily they changed their way and even if we do not make the GF we should be pushing for 33k+ members next season.

Richmond supporters were giving us a hard time about membership at the start of the year. I think we ended up beating them.

We did, but they actually beat their figure from last year, they did nearly make the finals which may have added a couple of thousand, but they are a very loyal bunch, one of the most consistent membership bases in the league, just behind Adelaide.

Geez, there are a few people on here that like blowing thier own trumpet. I live on the sunshine coast and am not a member. I nearly signed up this year after returning from overseas, but didnt because of the poor interstate membership package they had on offer. I am a little skint at the moment, but wouldnt mind parting with the cash (or more of it) if they actually offered something.

Interstate membership packages are shit value for $. When I lived in Darwin I couldn't be bothered. Forget paying 70 dollars for a key chain.

Thats what Im saying. The cats play Brisbane in round 22, and what do I get..... a key chain. Id prefer to pay $200, and get into a function after the game (like they did a few years back) and also have a chance for finals tickets. It's a crock of shit, and the PR department couldnt give two hoots. Then to listen to all these idiots calling people band wagoners because they dont understand that people in different situations than them get treated differently by the club is, well, shit

I'm interstate and haven't bought a membership for precisely that reason... absolutely no value for money whatsoever.
I think it would be in the clubs best interest to be more creative about interstate memberships... they would get a lot more people signing up (perhaps even new fans) if they were better packages.
