On exposed recent form LEGO should be playing in place of bacher
you cant be serious about dropping houli.
bloke should be a two time norm winner and is a legend of the club.

When he was younger. He has dropped off big time this year. In that case we should just never play kids because they have not played well in grand finals. Houli is beyond cooked and please show we how he has done anything this year? Markov is stronger, faster, and more confident right now.

Another Dan Butler walking out the door because Dimma is picking on reputation with Houli and Astbury and not form with Markov and Broad. Both players are in a younger age group and will be there fighting for years to come while the former are either on the cliff with Astbury or over it with Houli.
Broad already committed to Gold Coast , now Markov?

Just read the SEN report, "it is believed or understood".....well goodness knows what the source is or could be???

Good to see Butler's got some fans. Like most of the other players who've said goodbye he went for more money. Lloyd, Townsend & Butler for opportunity too. Blame Balme for giving so much to Dusty & Lynch. Nothing left at the bottom end for the likes of Butler, Conca, Broad, Markov.
Sure. I prefer Aarts anyhow. I hope we keep Markov he showed plenty this year. Astbury is in the form he's been in all year. Reasonable. Super important, won't be going anywhere. Our play looks slow at times cos its like he's the designated kicker after a point. Houli & Baker have been at bit average, but I can't see them getting dropped.

Astbury been in all year? Nah. Since hes been back our backline has looked slow for one win against Adelaide who arent quick. Mid year we looked great

If the Match committee has the balls to drop caddy but not astbury? He needs to step aside and let balta be no 1. He offers no run and calls the ball in the back pocket in kick ins.

Seems like a few posters rate him.
We need a bit of speed in the back line.
I've liked what I've seen. Has he improved over the past few years? What has been the knock on him before? Decision making?

Just couldn't break into a strong side and a strong backline.
Also we tried him forward as well so he probably hasn't had the chance to settle into a role.
The games he played this year were very good and it seems like he has found his niche.

step aside and let Balta be no 1. How does that work exactly? This week? If its a matter of leg speed Why bring back Astbury at all? Why isn't Markov playing?
Astbury wasn't on Charlie, and he did all the damage. If anything you should blame Nank for allowing their rucks to put the ball on such dangerous places up fwd especially. It's then up to the whole backline was responsible. Balta is playing Broads spot now. I agree the chemistry is not quite there yet. But if you want run, look to Houli, Short and Baker primarily. Baltas leg is a weapon but he must have dropped every mark that came his way. Houli and Baker under the spotlight too. Not offering much defensive or offensive
I don't know why they didn't try to run the ball out of the backline with short Houli or Balta long bombing it. The kick to Astbury in the pocket should have been last resort

Astbury has been excellent since his return, maybe not his best week last week, but generally he has been very good.

What do you see as his deficiencies?
Obviously Baker came into the side and established himself after Markov had been tried.
So others have made it where he hasn't.

I dont mind Astbury as player. However we play as a defensive unit now with a lot of zone defence.

Hes okay when teams just bomb it in but he struggles to get to contests when we play against teams that move it in quick on a fast break or turnover. Just too slow and if he does get the ball, its also slow.

maybe we should have him in our forwardline then.

I was keen to get him into the side as early as the North game but he's being somewhat over rated by alot of people in here. If he gets a 3 year deal he should jump at it.
It was good to have a look at Egg for a couple of games. OK vs North which was a training drill, shown up against better teams. (North was Chols best game too.) Markov got some good tools, not just legspeed. Barring injury I don't think he'll get another game this year. Wherever he ends up it was good to see him play well at AFL level.
