COLLINGWOOD has reportedly dropped Travis Cloke for ahead of its Anzac Day blockbuster against Essendon.

He will instead line up for Collingwood's VFL side against Essendon at Victoria Park on Sunday afternoon.

"It's my opportunity to go back to the VFL squad and get a kick, and see what goes from there," Cloke told Channel Nine as he left the Westpac Centre after training on Saturday.

It will be the first time in 10 years that the Magpies head into the annual clash without Cloke, who has paid the price for poor form as his side slumped to a 1-3 start to 2016.

Coach Nathan Buckley refused to guarantee Cloke's place in the side when quizzed by reporters on Friday.

Both Collingwood and Essendon will name their final teams for Anzac Day at 5pm on Saturday afternoon.

Whatever we get we get it and run. Trade him to Essendon in a package for Hurley, maybe trade WItts and use a first rounder plus Cloke plus a sweetener.

What first round pick? We gave ours to GWS...

Our only hope is to tank for close to last, and get an early second round pick. Then trading it for a player like Hurley.

He's uncontracted next year. If no-one pays him what he wants he leaves as a FA and expets the market value $.
 
About time , for the coin he is on he should be doing more. Has had sufficient time to work on his kicking and still is the worst kicking forward in the league.

Cant say he will be missed at seniory level , offers nothing that a second year player in Moore cant provide.

This proves that Buckley is incapable of coaching the team. One of the worst selection decisions I have seen in my life.

Cloke would not have been dropped last year, yet here we are set to drop him this year for Cox who has been playing ruck all year in the VFL.
Am I the only one that thinks maybe the reason they're being harder on Trav now is because he is in the 4th of a 5 year deal and he needs to achieve certain criteria to trigger a big pay day next year, one of those triggers most likely being not being that he doesn't get dropped for poor form? Maybe they want to free up some space to spend elsewhere.

Enough is enough. Cloke supporters are going on about the first 4 rounds, what about the last ten from last year?
Its Anzac day biggest game of the home and away - message - ****ing stand up and play good football, if not look what happened to Cloke.
The whole team is a joke atm they need a rocket - now they have one.

All this does is demonstrate that Buckley is incapable of motivating players. Would not be surprised to see Cloke request a trade at the end of the year. Another premiership player leaves.

All of Cloke goals this year Reminds of Gaults ones during the Pre-Season. Where he got them when no one was near him

Disagree. Paid over $38,000 per game. You expect a lot more from certain high paid players. It's basic investment terms.
I'd expect the heat would be on Ablett or Fyfe if he only picked up a few possessions a game.
 
What a disgrace by Buckley that it has come to this. The reason Travis is playing so badly is that he doesn't understand Buckley's game plan and therefore doesn't know where to run or know what he should be doing. This is on Buckley to make sure every single player can understand the game plan. If he isn't able to TEACH the game plan, then he shouldn't be coach.

I feel sorry for Cloke. The club has made him a scapegoat by the way they have treated him. No one would get a kick in our forward line the way we have been playing. This decision is wrong on so many levels.

If we lose on Monday, I hope it's Buckley that is the one that isn't there next week.
