If you are going to quote facts don't be selective. Wellingham had one good season with us and was spasmodically good at best. This is his 4th year at WCE and his first two years were crap. Seedsman had one very good game for us and was useless before and after that game. Does this entitle him to stay in the team for how long?. We lived in expectation of better things but they weren't forthcoming. Cloke has done nothing for 3 years. I like Cloke but just because he played in a premiership does not entitle him to keep getting a game when he can't buy a kick. I like your passion however, as one of our onfield leaders and main forward, he needs to set the example and with 7 goals in the past 11 games and five of those goals were from handball receives from the goal square, he is no where near where he should be.
I dare say Wellingham had more than one good season with us. In fact, I liked what he did from 09 all the way through to 2012. That's 4 seasons. Injury ruined his first couple of years at West Coast and he bounced back enormously well last year.

Seedsman was "useless" because he didn't have a coach who believed in him. If we gave him the proper belief and development, he would have been great for us.

Again, our game plan is letting Cloke down. I don't really care about his numbers. Gary Ablett Senior wouldn't do much better with how our team has structured up and delivered the ball into the forward line. He is the scapegoat, make no mistake of that.

You wanted Cloke dropped after round 1. Who was the suitable replacement then?

This is what you wrote after round 1 in the "Is it time to drop Clokey?" thread. At least try and maintain a bit of consistency.

I just said he was shit. He was embarrassing. But then 3/4 of the team were.

Anyways, how's your mouth?

I love it when sh it form is the coaches fault.

Haven't they got any pride?

Yes but you also wanted him omitted after round 1.

Your three outs were: Sidebottom, Swan and Cloke.

Your three ins were: three players who performed in the VFL.

I notice there is no clear like-for-like replacement listed in your ins.

Anyway, after a couple of rough weeks, I'm doing well.

Cloke is no doubt underperforming, but to drop him in a 50:50 game is a huge risk. I would have thought we need our more experienced players for ANZAC Day given it has finals like atmosphere.

If it backfires and we lose and Bucks is sacked, then I suppose it's the right decision.

We need our In-Form Players not most Experienced

Ha ha, you got made to look like a fool.
He went in dry.
How's your rear?

The only fool is the current coach

Round Player K H D M HO FF FA T G B AF
1 Travis Cloke 5 2 7 1 4 2 0 1 0 0 32
4 Travis Cloke 11 4 15 5 4 0 0 2 2 0 80

I was happy to drop Cloke after Round 1. He was the third worst player in our team, with 7 possessions and no goals.
In Round 4, he had 15 possessions, 2 goals and was our 9th best player.....and he's dropped!

So keep you homoerotic fantasies to yourself.

Gotta love stats...

Cloke's 2 goals came as a result of not chasing his opponent and letting him rebound the ball away while cheating out the back praying for a turnover.

Unfortunately stats don't tell the full picture, Cloke's stats last week make him look a lot better than he actually was. In reality numerous times he didn't even bother to provide a contest.

Even ignoring the 2 goals, he had twice as many possessions and hit the scoreboard twice through behinds. He was totally absent in Round 1...completely MIA. Last week, he provided more.

Yes but you can't drop a player like Cloke after round 1, you need multiple weeks of poor form in a row to drop a senior player...

Anyways, I am happy for him to be dropped as it gives the Bombers a better chance to win and brings us closer to the end of Buckley as coach.

If bucks gets sacked... and Cloke gets a recall after his standard afl performances in the vfl... then i'll find a new sport.

Cloke has been hopeless. Bucks had to drop him. Best idea ever.

Seedsman's extra curricular activities was his downfall and despite multiple warnings did not heed the advice. I agree that our game plan is letting Cloke down but it has been what it is for 4 years now and is unlikely that it will change anytime soon. Cloke hasn't adapted after 4 years, as evidenced by his stats, so unless he shows form in the VFL he will be the scapegoat and sidelined

Most forwards have gone through bad times with kicking. St. Nick has had a couple of stints. Chris Mayne started off as a guy who couldnt miss. Now he cant kick. Jay Schulz is pretty much in the same boat as Mayne. But Travis is about the only one - maybe that Shasbolt for Carlton too - who has never been able to kick straight. It breeds a disfunctional forward line. I used to think if there were alternatives to Trav, then the pressure would be off him and he would relax and kick. However, its has got ridiculous. His kicking limits his options in the team. We have to redesign a forward line so that Trav doesnt have to kick at goal....... and I think teams should be designed to win premierships, not to prop up someone who cant kick.

Buckley is the major reason. Pert for appointing him and Eddie for standing by to let it happen.

I'm watching West Coast Sydney now. Wellingham is absolutely dominating off the back of his superb year last year. Why isn't he in our colours? Why is Seedsman not running out on ANZAC day 12 months after he was best afield? Whoever has been in charge of the list management and trading decisions (Buckley would shoulder most of this responsibility) deserve to have their arses kicked.
Wellers was always going to go home, his first interview he gave at WCE he said "that the reason he didn't get a Collingwood premiership tattoo was that he didn't want the logo on his body when he came home to play for the Eagles". Bucks wouldn't play the Seed so he left

Yep - Sharrod was always going to come back to Perth for family reasons - it had nothing to do with Collingwood or Bucks... in fact the person I spoke to (here in WA) talked very highly of the support and structure they had at Collingwood for young interstate players, but that he was always coming home at some point.

Here's an article that will be in tomorrow's Herald Sun. I have cut and pasted the article for people to do not subscribe to the paper.

COLLINGWOOD should consider trading Travis Cloke if it can’t fix his form slump, former coach Tony Shaw says. Cloke, 29, will sit out Monday’s Anzac Day blockbuster for the first time since his debut in the showcase game in 2005 after being ordered to play in the VFL at Victoria Park on Sunday.

American Mason Cox will make his AFL debut in Cloke’s absence. Cloke, who has kicked just 8.10 from his past 10 matches, was believed to have received some harsh internal feedback during the week.

Shaw said Cloke’s omission should send a powerful message to the underperforming Pies. “It doesn’t matter what reputation you’ve got or how good you’ve been, you’re going to pay a price if you don’t play at the level,” he said. “I don’t think it’s a bold move, I think everyone felt it might have been coming.

He’s 29. If it’s not working now and you thought it wasn’t going to work and you could pick up two draft picks, what do you lose (by trading him)? “I would’ve thought he’d finish his career at Collingwood, but I’ve seen stranger things happen.”

Dermott Brereton said it was too early to write Cloke’s AFL obituary, but didn’t rule out a move from Collingwood. “He’s got a lot more to offer. “Put it this way — if he wasn’t at Collingwood I reckon he’d be the king pin at someone like Fremantle right now. “He’s still mobile, he’s still fit and he’s still got a good pair of hands. “He never was a good kick, so you can’t take that off him. “He’s too good to be in the VFL. If he’s not getting a game at Collingwood and that continues on then he’d definitely be better suited elsewhere.”

Former premiership captain Nick Maxwell said Cloke had not adapted to Nathan Buckley’s game plan. “Mick (Malthouse) was a real boundary coach and that was pretty predictable for Trav,” he said. “At the moment the Pies aren’t predictable at all. They’ve had 16 or 18 different players go through the backline in only four weeks. It is different, it’s a different game plan.”

Cloke’s contract expires at the end of 2017. He was expected to open talks mid-season and seek a three-year extension. Those talks may be put off now.
Cloke left training early on Saturday, declaring: “It’s my opportunity to go back to the VFL squad and get a kick, and see what goes from there”.

Utter nonsense.Buckley persisted with Seedsman for a number of weeks in the latter part of the season despite his appalling form.
