It is a crusade.Arent you disappointed as the premier club to draw only 35,000 on the unfurling of the flag against the GF team? I know I would be.
Why didnt anyone turn up? And please dont bring up this one team rubbish. You signed up plenty the day after the GF.This ''one SANFL'' club told everyone they had the largest support of all. Are people turning their back on PA because of Mark Williams? Are they returning to Ethelton to see Jack?
Yes it would be nice to get bigger crowds. The main thing though is that we were unfurling the premiership flag.

I was there and I greatly enjoyed the form of a number of our young players:- Ebert, White, Pettigrew and Chaplin. We've got some class acts to fill the gaps when a number of senior players retire in the next couple of years. They are going to help keep us to the fore for quite some time to come and success on the field is the name of the game.

No matter how you put it, Port have just about supporters from only ONE SANFL club. You have nearly every other one. Simple really. Do your own sums.

As an aside, if there were three or more AFL teams in Adelaide, then Port would NOT lose any supporters, but the Crows would.
If three MORE teams (say Nowood, Sturt and Glenelg) joined the AFL, the Crows supporter numbers would be decimated, but Port would still draw the same numbers. Again, it's quite simple.

This isn't true, I have lots of mates that barrack for Centrals in the SANFL but for the Power in the AFL.

Just don't try and tell them that the Magpies became the Power and the new PAMFC was formed for the SANFL.

I would have thought 35,000 when we usually get 24-27,000 for most home games was quite a reasonable percentage increase. As i said on the main board...if we can get over 30,000 for most of our home games this year then its not something that should be laughed at.

Just for comparisons sake...the Crows got 41,000 and 39,000 for their flag unfurlings in 98 and 99

I agree and it will be good for the competition as a whole if PA can increase their crowd base.

Capacitty was 46,000 ? Yes everyone who possibly could have been there should have.

Why should we increase our supporter base? What about half of the melbourne based clubs that struggle to get 25,000 a game?
Oh, that's right... you are saying this just because you don't like the Power.
Very clever.

You should be looking to increase your supporter base, but the good news is over time, I expect you will ... unlike some Melbourne based clubs that are competing against many other teams.

Actually where I work I know of at LEAST 3 Norwood supporters, 2 Glenelg and 2 Centrals supporters that all barrack for Port.

That's why I have usually used words like "most", etc.
There are some very vocal ones on the Port board as well, as there are some ex Magpie supporters that follow the Crows, but the overall percentage is quite small.
However, the percentage of non Magpie supporters following us in the AFL is growing and will continue to grow if we can keep our success going. Here I am talking mostly of the young ones. If that makes sense.
