Clearly Neil Craig wants to blame the loss on inaccuracy in front of goal.........I would rather blame it on the 39 point turnaround after halftime.

my bowel movement from earlier today left me needing only 4 sheets of toilet tissue to clean up

This should've gone in the "We are terrible" thread.

Are you taking the piss?... like these 2 things aren't related.

Are you mental?

At halftime despite inaccuracy infront of goal the AFC had a 19 point lead, so why did we not go on with it??? Why did we allow the Tigers back into the game and int he end over run us???

I feel the blame is being laid purely on kicking 4.9 in the 2nd quarter, had accuracy been better yes we may have won BUT at halftime we still had a lead we werent losing the game due to inaccuracy.

Rutten is too slow for full back, and his arse wobbles to much when he runs, and i don't like the boots he wears.

Trade Rutten to Gold Coast for some magic beans.

I'm often a smart arse when people try to be serious so I'll go the other way this time....

We lack leadership. Go read roo's column from today - it pretty much echo's many posters comments from here.

My favourite bit (obviously because it supports my own personal view which you can go read in other threads from yesterday)

"...there is a clear vacuum in leadership at the club and coach Neil Craig admitted in his post-match press conference last night that he wants someone to stand up and make a strong case to be the next captain in the final four weeks of the season... If ... they are not undertaking the same (goalkicking) routine, then it is poor leadership because leaders must stand alongside them and make sure they go back and stick with what they have practised. I'm sure this would minimise errors."

For mine, we haven't had this. Can't for the life of me rationalise why. The job is there for the taking with some really solid, inspiring leadership on the field and guys are not stepping up to take it. I am really concerned the fact VB has been annointed is really holding back other guys from rocking the boat. Thommo is letting his footy do the talking but even he isn't doing as Roo described - get over to the struggling players and give them a bit of support and guidance.

I just heard Griff on the radio on the way home and in all his coined responses he included how its been great to see guys like Rutten and VB stand up. Rutten did on the weekend fro mine - VB didn't (go see my other comments on this on the captaincy thread).

I just get this overwhelming feeling so many expecataions of outcomes are placed on the playing group they have been herded into a corner with what their opinions are and how they need to think and act.

Just get out their, fire up and lead from the front. ALL of you! The natural leaders will stand out... naturally.

In summary - lack of leadership - bad kicking - heads drop, team stops playing for each other - no leadership - things get worse.

I totally agree with you, now I have to ask, are the players playing this way because they are drilled to play a certain way and are too scared to play their natural game because of 'team rules', or has confidence within the playing group due to a number of reasons just hit zero and their confidence is just shot to pieces??

Look I believe (the club hasnt admitted it) the AFC made some massive massive blunders at the end of last year and pre season (it has been discussed a fair bit on this board) Goodwin, Mcleod, Burton and Edwards all played a year too long and it was wrong that they were all taken into this season, clearly pre-season training wasnt goign to plan yet through the media we were fed a pile a tripe as to REALLY where the playing group was at pre-season, correct me if Im wrong but Neil Craig came out and said something along the lines he had got improvement out of the four veterens on the training track:confused:

I want to know what sort of post season review is going to occur, how deep will it go and who will be held accountable for the poor list management at the end of last season and the poor fitness base of players in the early part of the season.

The lack of leadership sticks out like dogs balls and it is very concerning, especially when everyone is looking at VB and Thompson as the next captain yet they are both unaccountable on the field and with their own stats aswell look at Thompson against Richmond 57% effectiveness and 5 clangers and 18 uncontested possesions??? Van Berlo goes missing and for a senior player it isnt worthy of captaincy at any level.

So is that openly admitting what I have been saying all along we have no AA midfielders???

Pretty sure Fremantle don’t have any AA midfielders and they are top 4 and NO Mathew Pavlich doesn’t count as he’s an AA forward, defender and water boy.

Lot of taking the piss here, but TW13 has a good point. Poor kicking hurt us in this game but, to me, the reason we lost it was poor intensity. If you look at our best game for the year against the Cats, we didn't kick too well there either - a few easy shots at goal missed (particularly in the last quarter when it could have been nasty if Stokes' goal had been correctly paid) and a heap of turnovers. What kept us in that game was intensity. The players really threw themselves at the contests and ran hard in numbers. They kept the pressure on, forced opposition mistakes and created opportunities for themselves. Why the players have spent the better part of this season looking like they'd rather be somewhere else when they have shown on the odd occasion that they can turn it on is the big question of this year for me.

And it's not a question I find satisfactorily answered by 'bad kicking is bad footy' or 'geez we've had rotten luck with injuries' etc.

Finally someone else see's what Im saying:thumbsu: We still despite our poor kicking had a 19 point lead at halftime and it resulted in a 20 point loss, yet master coach Criag hasnt addressed that at all. Where was the intensity, the hardness the leadership to go on with the game after halftime??? Seems there is more quality at the RFC that can get the job done rather than the AFC.

Ok, how's this for another option? Crows are up by 19 points, despite having ALL the attacking play for the 2nd quarter. Should have been 8 goals up, game over, end of story. Instead, our poor kicking for goal meant we had a precarious lead. Enter Scott Stevens who, despite being a very handy loose man in defence, gives up his obligatory goal to the opposition in the opening minutes of the third quarter. Now, sometimes we can wear his ****-ups, or at least cover for them. This day? Richmond get the run on. Did Scott Stevens lose this game for us? NO. 8 goals up at half time, the Scott Stevens stuff up is a glitch that can be overcome. 3 goals up and it's a much harder (in this case, impossible) road.

The question has to be: how much energy and confidence does a team lose when easy shots at goal (the end product of really solid attacking play) are missed again and again? To be fair to our forwards - we have to remember that they are babies still and will be prone to inconsistent games. But in this case, we lost that game in the second quarter.

Jenny he is right - we lacked leadership on the day. Badly. We have the last 2 weeks.

Our old Captain agrees with that assessment - sure have you're opinion but there is enough envidence and common voice to indicate it probably is a source of concern.

What I don't get is the fact it's been raised over and over, people are agreeing - yet TW13 still just rants the same thing.

What do you want people to say or do mate? many people agree - many never will. now what??

Sandilands? Not to mention a guy called Barlow coming in and being talked about as a potential Brownlow.

I would argue that Michael Barlow is up there with the best midfielders in the comp. Not elite, but better than good I would say. He can find the pill and also has decent skills to go along with it. I don't think it's a coincidence that their drop in form has coincided with Barlow's leg injury either.

We certainly lack another A-Grade midfielder. Vince and Thompson would come close but when you stack them up against the likes of GAJ, Hodge, Goddard, Hayes etc. they look nowhere near as good. It would be great to get Griffen but unless he wants to come home, the Bulldogs will want a lot in return.

Okay maybe here the message has sunk in clearly it hasnt at the AFC, Doughty as stand in captain is laughable, not a captains arseh*le.

No question we got smashed in the 2nd half. Bad kicking in the 2nd quarter or not, we played like shit after that.

I agree with you (and Marty) re the lack of leadership. It's been a concern since Goodwin's absence and has seriously made me rethink who the next Captain should be. Would one man have made a difference though?
