Cannot see Fog getting many games in the seniors next season. This kid certainly looks in front of him already. Our forward line is looking

mighty impressive atm. All the best to you Talor, you are our Corey replacement. Absolute nugget, love his highlights. Our forward line is talor

made for success.
I’m actually surprised Fog is still on the list. In my opinion he has regressed since that 2023 season.

I agree I would play Talor ahead of Fog and I expect this season to be the last for Fog at the club.
I'm giving Fog the benefit of the doubt in the depth chart until this kid actually plays minutes in the pre-season. He's the next high half-forward after Ainsworth.

Taylor Byrne, what’s his range? Is he tied to any club?

Probably the most bankable small for mine. Dovaston has more press, but not sure he is without risk. Range will be difficult quality small forwards need a suitor guess anything from 12-30ish. Being 174cm may put him at the back end of the range.

Would like him to be in our mix. Can’t pass up Dean. Lindsay probably a dream.

Not concerned busy reports of a weak draft. There are players there that we could use. The draft is light for bankable mids outside of the academy kids which builds the poor draft perception.
Quoted from August 1, just sayin’

I knew nothing about him before last night

Have to say watching the highlights (yes that is dangerous) he has some great quality. He is tough, very clean and a deadly left foot. His workrate looks awesome and he can take a mark for a small

Looks more like a mid to me?

He looks a real goer that could be a crowd favourite. He will give us energy and excitment. He is one you could see playing early next year. Love to see him up forward with Motlop, Williams & Frank

So far, suggestions of traits like Wayne Johnston, Wayne Harmes, Zac Bailey, Serong, Papley, Jamie Eliott, Toby Greene, Angus Sheldrick. Welcome to CFC, Talor.

Gee it would be amazing if he could be a Jamie Elliott type. I guess conversely he could be a Corey Durdin as well, but whether thats a good or bad thing depends if you're talking the potential Corey once showed or the one that got banged up and fell away.

Either way, Talor is an interesting one to watch.

Wright is has been a part of recruiting teams that has excelled in picking small forwards and has brought that to our team which has had no idea. This guys is different to what we have been selecting.

Going from video highlights...

He's big bodied and he hits really hard, loves to tackle and chase. This is a change from all the purely outside forwards we have been recruiting. The forward line is the most defensive place on the ground to attack from and can often be congested, gone are the days you can be very outside and light framed and impact there. This guy does like to hit bodies, good sign. Could be a bit like Nick Watson.

He's a small forward with a really good, natural overhead game. One thing people, our recruiters in the past forget is that small forwards don't do all their damage at ground level, they get on the end of kicks, they take marks, the really good one get up on your back and take pack marks. More dimensions, can't do what defenders do to our small forwards and zone off him and intercept the ball and crowd defender, he is not going to sit back and wait for the ball to come into a tall, he's going to hunt it.

Can play a big of midfield. I like seeing this from a small forward or defender. It means they have a little extra talent and that they have a coach who really rates them and wants them up and around the ball. He may not do this at AFL level but if he does then great, he gives us another rotation.

He kicks goals. He's kicked some good scores this season, that is what you want.

In terms of playing AFL, no idea where his fitness is at and he will be like all 18 year olds, need time to develop his body.

I think he could work out well for us but let's wait and see. Will come down to a lot of how his ability to read the game and having very elite skills allow him to do what he does at AFL level.

High intensity mid-forward, good tackling technique (which isn't that common in the juniors). Fast enough to burn regular mids.

Concerns would be over some of his kicking can be a bit too high, and sometimes he plays the ball a bit too quick and let's the opposition get the easy intercept.

It's a bit of a double edge sword, because the quick play is often when the best opportunities are present.

His standout quality is that he is always on. Looking to impact the play in attack and defence and is not looking for his rests.

I don't know his endurance stats, but there are a lot of repeat efforts in the clips, so that tells me he can really go.

In a discussion in the Draft thread earlier this month, a few of us were agreeing that a game of dominance(or preferably even a couple) in a high level game, is a good indicater of being able to step up. I remember Rayner kicking 5 from a wing in a Champs game. Rankine ripping a Champs game apart at Geelong. Joel Freijah kicking 7 in a TAC game. etc

Seeing Byrne break open a Champs game with 5 goals is a great effort, and sign imo. Not saying he is gonna be the above players. But we can hope and see how he goes.

Powerful little player with a very nice kick and numerous ways to get the footy. And Nov birthdate, so still just a kid.
