Feel bad for El Nour. Torn it up at VFL for us for years, and we take a defender from another club ahead of him...

I know, what do you have to do? Miles ahead of some of our young defenders.

At AFL level, El Nour isn't going to be a KPD, he's an interceptong or rebounding defender. Similar to Trainor, Broad, Gibcus.

Difference being he would be behind all of them and not sure he's as damaging skills wise which is critical for the role. Can see why he's overlooked as most clubs don't have a need for that role (moreso for actual KPD)

A 200cm competitive key defender with a great balance between defending & his intercept game. We love his combativeness & courage & his rate of improvement over the past few seasons." Click below to read more about the newest Tiger, Kye Annand!

Hmm. I understand why we picked him. Not very excited though.

If we start getting players back then he seems likely to be surplus.

Anyway welcome Kye

Not really. The best KPD we have is Miller & I think he is at a level that shouldn't suggest he is a "lock".

Having "options" does not mean having "the answer".

Know nothing about him as a player, but - his height, position, skillset - sounds like the exact type of bloke we do need. What i'm not sure about is if getting that type of player is gettable in a MSD - i think the MSD/rookie drafts are better to poach smaller, "dime a dozen" role players - guys like Castagna etc.

But, a big lockdown defender is certainly something we need. Don't think any of the blokes we have currently are good enough to be a lock for a top 4 side anytime soon

Looking at his stats over his 4 years at the cats VFL and he’s pretty much stayed on 7-11 touches a game, not really a standout in any way.

EL Nour a level above.

Dylan Grimes career averages - 11.3 Disposals. 3.8 Marks. 2.3 Tackles.

David Astbury career averages - 13.1 Disposals. 5.3 Marks. 1.4 Tackles

Stephen Silvagni career averages - 12.1 Disposals. 3.9 Marks. 1.4 Tackles

Good defenders you might as well throw the stats in the bin. All comes down to the eye-test.
