Am so pumped for Mykelti coming back... love him... good game sense, strong, great leap, agile, great kick for goal.... was on fire when he went down. So hope he stays injury free... and only 26yo. Hoping next year shows we have a wealth of largely untried riches in the tall fwd department.
Wouldn’t expect too much early days

Wonder how quickly some of us in here will turn on him if he struggles early, due to not playing for a year.

Good that he is back but he is a good bit player for us with a solid mature body, not keen to see him take a spot from one of our promising key forwards though.

I have major doubts that he'll ever be best 22 again. Great depth and clubman though.
if were talking raw output he could well be our best kpf, including the current version of Lynch. but if we want games for kids he might have to take a back seat.

he would get interest from clubs wanting that cheap but effective mcstay style forward option.

he shows a lot of promise, think he has the goods to play.
I like him a lot. Showed plenty last year as the main KPF, but think he can be even more dangerous as the 3rd tall.

He’s a good player to have lurking inside the f50, because he makes opposition backs nervous, in the air and at ground level.

Hope the knee hasnt resulted in a loss of athleticism , it’s his 2nd one.

Who comes out for him?

Lynch? Nope
Faull? I really hope not

Do we play a 3rd tall?

Totally agree, he has great composure/marking & kicking skills and would work well as a third tall.

He comes in for Lynch whenever needed IMO unless he is miles off. Strong body paired with a kid or two. Otherwise leave Faull and Sims as 2nd and 3rd unless they are desperate for a spell.

I think if his athleticism and speed are still there, then why not. He offers something different to the other talls, he is pretty quick over 20m, can be dangerous at ground level, splits open packs.

And even if we don’t play 3 talls , You are never going to play all your forwards 23 games of the year, there’s injuries, players are managed etc..

He has endurance. I would play forward pocket and wing as a connector as he was at times last year. Faull and sims aren't doing that atm but will in time and lynch had to last week and fatigue was heavy .

Yeah right now on form 2024 Lefau would be playing I guess. But I'd prefer if it comes down to either Lefau playing or one of Sims, Faull or Armstrong, I'd hope we'd be playing the kid.

If Lynch goes down then bring him in for sure.

Faull and sims could do with benefits of time in the vfl. They get more ball and time to grow. I'm for blooding players but not if they aren't knocking down the doors early

If Faull continues to play games like last week then no harm leaving him in. If he freezes his ass off a few games in a row then yeah rotate others through.

Reckon he’ll be playing AFL pretty quick. He looked in top shape months ago so should hit the ground running. We could have a completely different look team after the bye with Lefau, Clarke, Prestia and even possibly Young pushing for selection, plus the young blokes.

He tries but hasn’t got it.
Doesn’t understand the game.
Bit harsh on a guy who’s only had half a season in the AFL. I know he’s 26 and even if he stacks up will have a short career. I do think he deserves his chance and could add some real grunt. May make some of our younger key position players a little more secure. I thought his performances last season were admirable, especially as we had no Lynch to help him.

See your points.
Just see him as a very limited player.

Wish people would stop acting like Lefau is some kind of world beater.

He is almost 10 years older than say for example Faull and Jonty averages similar stats to what Lefau has in his 10 games at senior level.

Yes, Lefau has kicked more goals atm but the way Jonty is progressing he will average more than 1.4 goals a game. The job of a key forward is also to take contested marks and already Jonty is ahead.

Dont think he will be a world beater but he could still be a very handy player for us

He has the best traits of a tall player but can also pressure like a small

He’s also very team 1st with how he plays, loves to run repeat leads to create marking opportunities for himself or gaps for the other forwards to push into

Yes he’s holder but still no reason we can’t expect to get a good 5 years out of him at least
