Welcome Ashton. Sure Sticks will take you under his wing being a Glenelg boy:thumbsu:.

Super excited. Playing V men in SANFL and doing very well shows he could be ready to go from Rd.1.

Good size, looks tough, super highly skilled and can take a grab......... A touch of Aaron Hamill about him????
Wouldn't that be nice.

Looks like he has it all and just what we need to complete our forward set up.

Looking a very astute pick and a complete bargain at 29.

GO BLUES.

Really like the decision to draft skill and talent rather than "athlete". One of my misgivings about previous drafting has been the lack of focus on pure skill. I'm no draft expert and really don't know anything about this years crop but from what I've read this guy has all the talent (kicks naturally on both sides) but attitude may be a risk. Attitude is easier to fix than skill.

Spoke with a Glenelg legend this morning
Says Moir has been ‘Hard Work’ and hope he grows up at the Blues
Over to you Vossy and Co
Looks to have the talent…
Reminds me a bit of Troy Menzel but think we are better equipped now to handle any bad traits
Good luck young man 💪

Yep seems from what people have posted there was more than just the injury doubts but he’s a kid and he’s been raised by two parents who reached the pinnacle in their sport so he will know what it takes and that’s no guarantee he will step up but I’m quietly confident he will and as others have said the Club will know how to handle it

Glenelg connection - Sticks #4, Gibbs #4

A bit of Hamill about him ... Hamill #4

If ever something was a lay down misere.

Not without merit, but pretty sure he will “tell” us when he is ready. If he returns to his underage output, he is going to be awfully hard to leave out.

Absolutely if there are any mental or physical frailties, we have all the time in the world to build him up. With Elijah Hollands and Jack Martin potentially in front of him for now, there is no rush. JSOS also will potentially be chasing a third tall spot too.

Not without confidence is the Lad. I think he is already telling us something.

I’ve been saying for a while we need to have another 3rd tall “Jack Martin” type.

Hoping Moir is the man.

Seems to have the talent - get the body and mind right Ashton.

It’s a great opportunity for you at a fabulous club that is on the rise.
Agree. The Lions are looking super dangerous with their forward line setup which is probably the model for the modern day forward line. Looks like fix the med forward situation was the brief for Nick&Co and they brought in Elijah and now Ashton to add to Martin

I agree with the slower approach to building up Moir for his AFL career. Not that you stupidly hold anyone back for no reason ,of course. But with Ashton i think initially, slower might be beneficial. Russell is the main man for him for the next 9 months or so. I take it on face value that it was structural body stuff that held him up this year. So i would be concentrating on Russell going to work on him and getting his body in ripping shape, and getting his own confidence in his body in ripping shape...and take it from there.

The ox is slow but.....bloody Malthouse memories lol.

Anyways, plenty of time and off field expertise to bring out the best version of Ashton is the approach i would take.

This gets said every year about every player. But the fact is that it is not how it works. If the player is ready- then he is ready. IMO stuffing a ready player into the 2s to protect him is counterproductive. AM seems really confident and if he is being frustrated by being protected in the 2s , we run the risk that he goes backward.

Very wise of TW to include the second sentence then wasn’t it …

This pile on business is utter garbage.
Seems to be a competition who can deliver the most frenzied attack on the player in question.
Similar to the pathetic Gatorade shower first time winners have to endure.
A firm handshake and show of respect for your teammates is far classier.
Sooner the clubs cut it out the better…
A firm handshake? What are you, some kind of boho hedonist?

A respectful glance should be more than enough. No more than one second of eye contact, naturally. The familiarity of a slight nod is best avoided, except by immediate family.

Tell me any draft pick that’s perfect. They’re young and need guidance then it’s up to the individual.
