"He has played two games for Sydney in the new VFL competition this year as well as some practice matches and has locked horns with AFL players Shane Mumford (GWS), Darcy Fort (Geelong) and Sam Draper (Essendon) where he has shown a real desire to compete as well as the ability to learn quickly via both instructions from our coaches as well on field experiences.

Taubert, Swans senior ruck coach from 1999 to 2017, transformed Canadian rugby player Mike Pyke into a premiership winning ruckman for the Swans, so he knows the drill.

The Academy players are fortunate to have not only Taubert but a gang of highly experienced coaches, with four Swans premierships players currently guiding them - Crouch, Nick Davis, Tadhg Kennelly and Nick Smith.

In a year that has gone anything but according to plan, it's understandable that there is some anxiety among senior prospects in the QBE Sydney Swans Academy.

Ruckmen are getting bigger. Used to be 200cm was a very big ruckman but these days it is verging on a bit too small.

Maybe we have got him to run dead so we could sneak him through. He may have Gawn talent levels and am sure we all hope for that.

Problem is we need to use a top pick to get a good quality young ruckman and it has been a very long time since we used a pick in the first 3 rounds on a ruckman.

21, so is a bit more mature than a 19 year old.

From limited VFL I have seen, he moves well and is a good tap ruckman.

Now the hard work starts to build up his strength and running capacity to get a crack at AFL level.

Only player over 200cm under 29 (Naismith turns 29 in a month IIRC).

Surprised we didn't give him a crack as a Cat B rookie last year but suppose we had other areas. His ECFL record seems OK? Definitely a long shot but might be developable.

It would be alright if he wasn't seen doing the squat dance all the time instead of going for the football.

Well he is tall. Time to google him, havent heard of him ever before. That being said with 10 seconds to go and we need to hit a target inside 50 for a late shot on goal I'm backing him in over Florent to make that kick.
