Out of curiosity, what sort of contracts are the Mid-Season draftees on? 6 months? 18?

Not commenting specifically on Smartt, but just generally speaking - I really hope we haven't drafted too many from the MSD this year that, in due time, prove to be non-AFL quality. List has enough issues at it is

Do have a few concerns that Smartt could be another small forward that doesn't work out, Mcmahon's recruitment makes it seem like one of him/Edwards is expendable in the future. As for Blakiston, good signs and like his commitment, but when push comes to shove, would he be best 22?

Don't think we need him to be. Will be handy in the VFL and possibly be second fiddle to Bryan next year.

problem is he plays one of only two positions in the side we dont need depth in, considering the nga kids coming through

He's doing a lot right, but needs to make the most of his goal scoring opportunities to make it.

Yeh this is the thing for me. He has some really good moments, gets to good spots .I love how hard he is. Really looks to hurt in a tackle.

The goal kicking though, I hope it’s just nerves and he just needs to get his first goal to break the shackles. If he kicked those goals he would have been near our best tonight.

We can’t have a small forward who can’t finish. It’s the main reason Menzie will get delisted.

We're not going to be good anytime soon so we can afford to cut all three and pick up Massimo Raso along with El Achkar and Sweid.

No more hoarding. Especially with how easily we gave up D'Ambrosio and Voss.

I personally wasn't interested in Smartt as a VFL player because of his limitations. He wouldn't be on the list if not for the amount of season ending injuries we've had. The other 3 MSD picks we should persist with IMO because they fill a need.

Our side is already slow as it is. We need small forwards that are quick and pressure well. Smartt is neither of those unfortunately. If we had to keep one, then I agree with Smartt over Menzie.

he floundered a couple of opportunities last night. Needs to work hard on goal kicking, I like th other stuff he does more than say a Gresham or Guelfi.

Has some footy IQ but is seriously raw defensively and I just do not know about his pace. I am still just seeing a better marking version of Ned Cahill

He could still be on the list as a "break in case of an emergency " scenario.

The NGA kids would take Menzie and Davey's list spots.

Who knows, he might be OK with a full preseason.

Agree with this. Happy for Smart to play until the end of the year, but the goals need to start happening if he wants to hold it down, otherwise I'd prefer to clear all three as well.

Hate to say it, but Guelf is starting to look tired, too.
