McMahon can certainly kick his one or two potentially more playing out of the goal square. Has a lovely kicking action and times his leads well.

If he’s gonna make it though he needs to add many more strings to his bow.

Most our forwards can pinch hit at full forward, (caddy, Perkins, may wright kako Langford) but all of them can also play elsewhere.

Unless McMahon can have more impact up the field too and add to his tackling/ defensive work I don’t see his career lasting long in the afl.

Similarly to waterman who’s goals a game at afl level looked good eventually you are required to do more.

McMahon has a bit more height than Waterman and Edwards.

but if I'm after a ruck/forward (like Wright) it is likely - Archer May then Blakiston, then Vigo, then Gerryn so he is a long way down the order there too.

I think McMahon is decent with ball use hitting targets....he just needs to get more involved at AFL level.
He also played back end of season when we were getting flogged and playing the better sides.
4 Goals against cats is decent.
2 against Saints, Dogs, Giants
1 against the suns
We were belted by the Dogs and suns, almost beat the saints.

80% Goal kicking accuracy.

1770589690602.webp

Langford finished with 88% goal accuracy But only kicked 8 goals, missed 1.
Draper 77.77% goal kicking accuracy.
Lual 100% (4 goals) others with 1 and 100% but hardly worth mentioning.

He reminds me of Mitch Brown (Geel/efc)
He was a bit more of a running workhorse, but also decent shot at goal and third tall matchup.

Maybe if he can be that leadup guy hard running up the ground, combined with his decent goal kicking.
brown best goal kicking seasons were 21,20 +18 goals.

I think McMahon could kick 30+ if he gets a decent run at it of games.

Caddy is the mobile forward. But we also shouldn;t just be relying on him to do this.
maybe good for both of them to play FF/CHF interchageably during the match.
Not sure if McMahons tank could handle this.

Right now as things stand, I’m banking on Edwards lasting longer than McMahon. I think Edwards has more X factor and athleticism to be able to fit in amongst our developing forward line.

my Pecking order is

Starting KPF - Wright, Caddy, langford
Bench KPP multi position May (KPF/Ruck/KPF)

Emergency
McMahon, Cox, Edwards, Jones, Gerryn

Jones/Cox so far down due to injuries.

But wildcard is Robey to play as a Pseudotall

May be pushed out when Bryan comes back if Blakiston falls into that role.
