Pretty simple, list five positives from this season. After all the negative posts made after last night's loss, let's look back on what was, really, a great season and a great step forward for the Carlton Football Club.

1 - The development of our younger players; Hampson, Gibbs, Murph, Robinson, Joseph, even Russell, etc.
2 - Fev winning the Coleman; great effort on his part to win it for the second time AND to kick 60+ goals in year for the fifth time.
3 - Making the finals; i know, i know, we went out first round. But it was our goal and we acheived it. Should be proud of that.
4 - Beating top-quality sides; probably what we have struggled to do over the past few years. Beat sides this year of the likes of Bulldogs, Geelong, Collingwood, Brisbane and came very close to St.Kilda. There won't be too many sides next year that we won't be able to beat.
5 - The development of our defence; it cops a lot of criticism, but let's face it - we had Waite out for much of the year and Jamison out for much of the second half of the year. Yet in the time after Waite went down we won 9 of 14 (inc. finals) and in the time after Jamison went down we won 2 from 5 (inc. finals). Bower and Thornton, i believe, stood up well and will be great for us going forward.

What are yours??

1. Playing finals again. We're back where we belong, and most of our best 22 are still developing.
2. Unearthing Joseph, Garlett and Robinson, give these guys another pre-season and look out.
3. Being hated again, jealousy's a curse.
4. Watching guys like Gibbs, Kreuzer, Murphy, Bower, Jamison and Betts displaying maturity beyond their years all season. Scary to think these guys are still so young and developing.
5. Wins against Geelong, Bulldogs, Collingwood, Brisbane during the season show just how well our guys can play when they put it together, consistency will come as they get more experience.

The OPs list is pretty much spot on, Winning more in the ruck was a real positive for me last year cloke was our number one ruckmen averaging 10 a game and now we have a wealth of depth in their. No doubt playing in that final will give us 5-10 games experience per player and gibbs, kruezer, murphy will only get stronger because of it.

We have had a taste.....lets get hungry.

Mitch Robinson, Jeffrey Garlett and Aaron Joseph are my positives from 09. Were beginning to mature and it's pretty bloody exciting.

All well said, another positive i think that is slowly coming through is some consistency, with the team winning 7 of the last 9 games of the season. It has been so frustrating to watch in previous years when we have had a good win and then we just throw away all form the following week. Hopefully we can continue to improve on this next year.:thumbsu:

Pretty much covers all of it.

Maybe another is that we although we got smashed by adelaide and essendon, we managed to lose a many games by a small margin. In previous seasons, we got smashed in most games we lost.
