I'd love to see McPharlin play off HF and Pav play closer to goal. At least in the first few games while Pav builds up confidence in his shoulder again.

Generally, they rotate around a bit in any case. I'd question whether McPharlin is as good a mark on the lead as either Pav, Medhurst, Murphy or Polak -- which is what you want as a CHF.

Plus McPharlin isn't a great kick so I'd want him close to goals for his shots, and not sending his donkey lobs into the forward line.

That's the response I was expecting kinda, but McPharlin does have to learn variation when playing up forward and I thought Pav would be a weakness initially. I don't think we'll see the same strong Pav this year (he will still be less than ordinary).

Brings up a bit of a dillema. If Murphy and Polak fire at their positions, where will McPharlin go. Even more Murphy fires at FF, McPharlin goes back to CHB, where does Polak go. Pretty much if Murphy does well at FF, what happens with Polak and McPharlin?
McPharlin's best position is CHB would have gone AA if he did not get injured.
Polak's best position is as a tall defender, both McPharlin & Polak can & will play forward at various times during the season which gives the club lots of options. Murphy's best position is FF, if he can hold down FF the options for Freo are far greater, I am confident he will.

Just what I thought. Polak as third tall defender who can be thrown up forward along with McPharlin with Murphy at FF and throw in Johnson and there's quite a quality interchangable spine

1- Chris Connolly sacked or walk if were not won atleast 50% of our games by round 7

2- Players picked on merit rather than reputation .

3- Players to adopt a more mongrel approach and not afraid of getting there hands dirty or playing for an ugly win.

4- Coaching staff to realise Peter Bell , J Carr & Hasleby in the centre and or onball at the same time gives us the slowest midfield in the comp and takes away from our defensive midfield strategies.

5- Play Pavlich at Full forward all year.

I think it's just about time to give up on Polak as a forward. Ever since he's been used sparingly as a forward his performance has suffered badly (although that's probably more due to attitude and off field indiscretions). Seeing as though it looks like McPharlin will be used at FF, it's time to slot Polak back at CHB and have him hit the weights.

Polak is a poor kid, but his brilliant hands suit him at CHB. He can clear the ball and save goals. Murphy's accuracy suits him more to a forward position. McPharlin will play in the foward line, closer than Pavlich who will stay at CHF.

I'd like to see the following in 2006:

- Pavlich to continue his top form , booting at least 60-80 goals.
-Schammer to dominate the midfield.
- Mundy, Peake, Crowley and Johnson to continue their improvement.
-To make and win in the finals.
- Headland to play consistant, brilliant football.

McPharlin is far more valuable playing at FF being one half of (In my opinion) the most potent FF, CHF combination in the AFL.

The defence will be strong with Haddrill back and Polak will be fully fit this season allowing him to hold down CHB. You guys also have back pockets and half back flankers coming out of your ass.

The midfield will be very impressive with
Hasleby(Fully fit)
Schammer(Taking his game to the level everyone thought he would last year)
Headland(Playing more pedominantly in the midfield)
M Carr(Class act good runner, strong and skillfull)
Peake(One of the most exiting rookies in the game the skys the limit)
H Black(D*ckhead that is a very good player)
J Carr(Better for the run last year should be more comfartable this year)
Bell(Will play mostly as a forward but will make a impact drifting in the midfield with no tag)
R Crowley(One of the finds of last year, has pace, skill and can shutdown players will still getting the pill)
S Dodd(See Crowley)
D Haines(Deceptive pace, when fully fit he can play)
A Browne(Looks to have improved kicking, a bit of flier that can kick a goal)

Forget scraping into the finals this mob should be Top 4.

You'd think so mate. We really should be right up there. No Ifs buts or maybes we should be right up there and pushing Finals and Top 4. Just a matter of application.

Looking at some of the depth we have aswell really does have me looking forward to the new season however if we face disappointment again this season I'll deadset put a fist through a wall.

I might have more than 5...

1. At least 1 home final (which we win).
2. Reach PF.
3. Re-establish Freo's Fortess Subiaco... I am prepared to concede one of the derbies (not by choice, but by being realistic), but want to see every other Subi game a winner as it was in 2003.
4. Win the majority of clearances / stoppages..
5. Joshie to play to the best of his abilty.
6. Peakey to scorch the Subi turf, and strike fear into the hearts of opposition supporters when he gets the ball in his hands.
7. Polly to own CHB.
8. Haddrill to regain his form from 2003/4 and be The Rock at FB.
9. Sandi to keep his steep curve of improvement and make opposition ruckmen quiver with terror when they play us.
10. Hase to get back to his injury-free AA best.
11. Pav to average 10 marks and 4 goals per game, and stamp himself as the best CHF in the game - again.
12. Medders to kick 40+ to keep his 40 goals per year average in tact.
13. McPharlin to take his second successive MOTY on his way to kicking 50 goals for the year.
14. David Mundy to make AA.
15. Ryley Dunn to stamp himself as a bonafide AFL player.

Hit nail on Head. must have peake, schammer, Crowley,DJ, browne in the mix at stoppages.

Why is everyone plugging polly for CHB? He has been used at CHF in the pre season in all the drills. I don't think they rate him for CHB and according to Broadbridge Tatter is being groomed for CHB!!

Masai scratches his dandruff, haven't we got a CHF who is a little above ordinary?, are we going to play the big Croat on a flank?.

Me thinks Polly in the backline, Tatter is a good forward but is CC thinking of giving him an apprenticeship in the backline to improve his forward play?. Tatter in a forward pocket and the Wiz / Medhurst in the other?.

I'd be very careful about what mentioning big, Croat and flanks around these parts.

Polak has been used at CHF in the pre-season drills for the last four years. Then they play him at CHF for the pre-season games and suddenly go "oh, now I remember why we play him at CHB".
