Success overcoming the injury will bring the motivation back. Remember how stoked he was when he kicked a couple of goals on ANZAC Day? All he wants is certainty and success on the field will bring that. And if that's not quite it we've got decent experience with the mental health side of things with Francis. He's staying I reckon.

Bombers star forward Joe Daniher's decision to reconsider his playing future is squarely about whether he has the desire to play at all, News Corp reports.
Speculation has mounted that the injury-plagued 25-year-old is contemplating a move to Sydney in response to the Bombers' treatment of his debilitating groin problems, but the real issue has been the effect his time on the sidelines has had on his motivation levels.
News Corp revealed Daniher commended the efforts of the club's medical department but had been mentally drained after he'd "gone to hell and back" while undergoing "really uncomfortable and really painful" treatment.
Daniher, who has a year to run on his contract at Essendon, is also believed to have been weighed down by the burden of expectation after playing just 11 games in the past two seasons, regularly playing in discomfort.
Daniher’s father, former Sydney and Essendon player Anthony Daniher, recently told an Essendon past players' function that his son would not depart Bomberland in the Trade Period.

Not really.
Honestly can't see how this trade gets done.
If he's considering whether he has the motivation to continue AFL, then it most definitely has. I doubt Sydney would want to pay pick 4 for a player that could end up like Tom Boyd. I wouldn't either.
Good news however is that if he does play, it'll most likely be with Essendon.

Well the only reason he's disenfranchised is due to his rehabilitation and being unable to play. If Sydney are confident in getting Joe's body right, then it's safe to say his desire to play football will be back to normal.

That article has me pretty confident that Joe will don the sash next year.
I read there was an element that the surgery and recovery played a part too. May just be over the toll AFL football places on your body.
Yeah, it would be a bold move for the Swans but you would think they know full well where he's at.
They may back their culture and system to offer him an environment that would motivate him.
Maybe Joe's looking at a complete move (club, state, code popularity) to try and push himself. Not many careers out there pay this much. Making hay could be a motivator for him too.
Personally feel he will stay.

It has me more inclined to believe he won't be wearing any jumper next year.
IMO, it is the combination of going through the rehabilitation process all over again and the fan expectation of returning to his 2017 form.
If he is to stay with us next year, then I hope we give him as much time as he needs to fully recover. No expectations or push to return.
That affects his trade value though, which is my original point.

Just remember that he is the big-ticket click item this trade period - big player, big club.
I’m not saying there’s nothing to it, but most of what is being published is purely to get clicks. Unless there’s proper attribution, it’s just a re-hashing if stuff already said, probably with some crap re-organising to make it seem fresh.

Joe's mental side has always been the key in all of this, there's a reason the club has been acting a bit differently on this contract speculation.
The shit thing is All this speculation and pressure is probably not doing him many favours.
