Just leading speed and defensive mindset that has keep him out of the team that and then his self entitled attitude. I agree that he would be a wonderful replacement for Lids. He has all the skills we need and is a beautiful mark and kick. Never understood why he was dropped for Conca and Griff in that final - always thought we were a better team with him in it.

If he can prove to Dimma and the coaches that he has changed his attitude and has improved his fitness, I can see him playing most games this year. Lloyds form has also kept him out of the team but now Lids is gone - the spots his if he deserves it
I didn't even read your comment... just stared at your profile pic for way too long

I'm concerned about Lennons commitment to the club. Every year there are whispers he is looking to be on the move. Even if he does have a big year - and that's a big if - who's to say he doesn't just pack his bag and actually make it to another team next offseason. His currency will be up, sure, but if the signs are there I'd prefer to pump games into a committed player.

If he turns it on a becomes best 22 then requests to leave we get good compensation.

Or he plays and becomes best 22 and sings edit: re-signs.

Its a win win

Heres to hoping he sings 25 times next year ;)

Thats a win win then. He comes good and we get a good trade, he comes good and he stays with us.

I just re wached Lennon's draft year highlights courtesy of the clubs website. Geez this kid has talent. It becomes apparent watching the highlights though that when up the ground he gets most of his kicks on the outside.. real soft stuff. But when leading up at the ball or close to goal - that's where his true AFL potential lies.

Now our coach decided to play him as a mid/back for the most part of his development in the VFL... Obviously killing his confidence and making him unsure of his game. I think this was a mistake that hampered his development.

Play Lennon consistently in the forward pocket and we will really see what he has to offer, because in those other positions he offors little!

Plays his best footy as a lead up half forward. If he can learn better leading patterns and how to work with the other forwards to get space on his opponent, he will be an infinitely better forward. Currently he always seems to have his opponent breathing down his neck and works so hard trying to out sprint his opponent than he lacks the endurance to defend the other way. Learning some running and leading patterns from the likes of Jack and, hopefully, Leppa will make a world of difference to this kids game. Up until know his arrogance has probably stopped him for asking for help but I think he will be in a better place this preseason after eating a little humble pie during trade period.

I think he will have a great year if he can work his way into the team and earn respect from his coach and team mates

Lennon has had bad luck. But he also seems to have rep for FIGJAM, and being a bit lazy.

I reckon he just needs a bit of maturity, knowledge where he actually stands in the world (no one wanted him in trade period) and hard work. His natural talent is good enough to be a very good player. If he can do the job we will be better, and losing Lids will hurt not so much.

I reckon he's probably struggling as he hasn't had the mandatory richmond apprenticeship in the backline yet. All our new players seem to get played out of position to learn the defensive side of the game. Once he gets this he will go back to his favoured forward line position and thrive.

No I don't think so. He's played in the backline for the VFL. He's a natural forward. I think he know's how to defend but hasn't had the mindset. inclination or endurance to do so to this point. Dimma wants our forwards to lock the ball in the forwardline which we do very poorly compared to the better teams in the competition. Lennon is a typical young forward who stops working as soon as he can't get the ball in his hands. He looks to run into space in case of a quick turn over rather than locking down on his opponent.

He'll get there. Just needs to learn how to work off his opponent better and be more conscience of them when we don't have the ball.

You know the deal dude...if someone just needs, its the mandatory 6-7 games to gain confidence and experience to deliver on his potential. And we all know that ends up with first class ticket to Altona

True - big preseason for Lennon. If he doesn't show that he deserves an opportunity early then his career is over
