Absolute crock to generalise you're second to the ball and that's why he tackles, fact is high pressure players like Butler sprint 100 meters to get to a contest to put that pressure on to lay the tackle, one of the reasons our small forward trio were feared in '17. Why do you think they have "pressure act" stats?
And the junk time goal argument is also a junk time argument. If we deleted junk time goals from the record books even the all time greats would have their records massively reduced. A goal is a goal, it's in the books.
Butler is very fortunate that there is a thing called 'pressure act' stats because otherwise he'd have almost no stats at all. And whilst he may occasionally do that 100 meter sprint thing, more often than not he is simply just second to the ball. And on those very rare occasions he did get the ball it didn't help he had near the worst disposal efficiency of anyone on the ground. Basically a perfect storm of crapness.
And it's entirely relevant to call out his junk time goal for what it is. It might stand in the record book, but we all know what the value of it was when we were over 10 goals down in the last quarter (just like we know the value of one of his two goals the week before from a relayed free kick). It no way compensated for that woeful turnover that helped kill any hope we had of getting back into the match.
Again the only coaching staff that would have been 'very happy' with his performance last Friday night work for Geelong.
