I posted this thread on the main board, only for it to disappear, although i'm not sure why it may offend. Max Rooke, or indeed at the start of this period of time, Jarrad Rooke, last played in a defeat in Geelong's senior side back on September 3rd 2006. That is 716 days ago, and to put that into context, we still had Steve Irwin and Peter Brock alive at that point, and Sydney were still the reigning premier.

Hard to believe isn't it, that a player who is a regular senior player can have such a long time between defeat. It would have to be almost a record i'd say, and a testament to a) his luck in avoiding the few defeats Geelong has had in the last 40 games, and b) just how damn good Geelong now are.

One thing it also shows, he is a mighty valuable player for Geelong. Brad Ottens and Paul Chapman are soon to celebrate their 1st anniversary of playing in a senior AFL defeat, their last loss being the Port game in Rd 21 last year.

Go Catters....let's make it an even longer time, particularly say an extra 6 weeks!!:D

Quite a few posters (mostly Saints) took offence. I thought it was interesting.

It just goes to show how important Max is to our side.

Not sure if Chappy will play this week.

I posted how long it has been since the sainter's had been celebrating the 10 game winning streak from 2004 & im haven't been able to locate the thread this morning....But your absolutely right saints supporter took offence to it....What the **** is the problem with them ???? Sour grapes or what cause we are so happy with our own team ????

That picture of 'The Streak' is probably one of the funniest pictures one can use, it works on so many levels! Geelong's previous ones like 'One Special Season' at least has some foundation for beieng shown, but those precious Sainters certainly get uppity about anything reminding them of their glorious 10-game era.

Geelong now has three 'streaks' of 10 games or more in succession, and i'm certainly hoping that we can extend this for a further six weeks. I guess at the heart of all this interest in stats is that i'm enjoying living in an era that i really never expected to see, or experience.....i am certain if 'Bigfooty' existed and the net was part of things in the early '50's it must have been similar then, when Geelong set new standards with their play back then.

Indeed, i remember in a book called 'Cats Tales' written by Colin Hutchison, Geelong's historian and it referred to the early 50's as an era when Geelong played a 'fast, breakneck speed type of football, that forced other clubs to their way of playing'. History may well be repeating, after the flood/lock-down style of the Swans in 2005-06. And what a joy it is too!

How many winning team games in a row has he played in?

My understanding was that Ling held the recond. I assume Max would be close to breaking this?

If that first post is the same post Catsace put on the main board then how could the precious Saints fans take offence ?

To be honest i can't remember the exact wording of the original, as i posted it and went out shortly after. When i returned a few hours later, it was simply not there. I didn't think mentioning the time that two Aussie icons in Brock and Irwin were alive at the time was in poor taste?

Rooke i think has about 19 wins in a row, Ling Bartel and Selwood i think were the ones who advanced their winning records to about 24-25 or so, as they all missed the Port game. Ling i think did get up to 27 before the loss to the Pies.

A handy site is 'allthestats.com' as you can click on each club, and it has a chart which indicates who played what rounds. Rooke is the only fairly regular senior player that avoided the five defeats Geelong has suffered since the end of 2006. Everyone else of the regular senior players played one of either the Port game in Rd 21 last year, or the Pies game this year.

That's a really interesting stat. Without going into details one would think Rooke would've played more than 19 games in nearly 2 seasons. But there you have it. He hasn't

So just going into details for a second. The first few rounds of 2007 he was out because of form? injury? Therefor missing those early losses.
The Port loss last year I assume he would've been out because of his hammy.
And then the loss to the pies this year? Why was he out then?

It was back in Round 13 last year in the first minutes of the game where Maxy tore his hamstring badly (prompting the club to send him to Germany for treatment) and he didnt play again until the Qualy against North. Not too sure about first few rounds though.

I believe he was dropped for the Collingwood game earlier on in the year. God we needed him that night.

Just went through his stats and he has now racked up 24 wins in a row. Will break Lingys record of 27 if we get to the GF without further loss providing he stays in the team til then. touch wood.

Try Bay 13, I am sure it would last there.

Maybe i'll just hold off and put it up again if we win the flag! Tell you what, the stuff we can begin to roll out if that glorious event unfolds will be Bigfooty heaven.

And to RussCat, i must have mis-counted...if that's the case then if Rooke gets to beyond 27 he'll hold the record. Ling at 27 games possesses the record for all time of playing in concecutive wins.

It's essentially the same OP. Quixote (Aints supporter) and Duritz (Lions supporter) took offence. Didn't need removing, just needed those plonkers carded. Their vitriol was great, showed how much the Cats success was hurting :thumbsu:
