Have watched him in the VFL and been super impressive. Can see why he has been selected. Nothing against Graham, but I don't believe that Browne will lose his spot now, and will remain in the side.

His showing his contesting well not just in the ruck but also around the ground. Takes marks and bobs up for goals. Should improve your midfield that little more.

I'm thinking you might be a chance this week against the Dons with Watson out.

I hope you are right also, however when i have seen him in the two's i see a slow uncordinated guy guy gets the occasional kick and mark purely because he is tall. Not Sandilands tall so i think he would have to improve a lot to cut it at AFL level.

have heard some astute judges rate him as a good prospect, was thrown to the wolves in his previous games- stupidly by wallace in his 1st (imo)-
will be very interestedto see how he goes against bellchambers who has come out of the blue to be our number 1 ruckman and put in some very dominating performances, has 1 year on browne.

Agree on this where Browne is at at present.

I did however see an old Fremantle game on Foxtel a little whilst ago when Sandilands was much younger and he had zero co-ordination, balance, footy smarts etc...

Hopefully the currently unco Browne can follow in the footsteps and grow to be a solid contributor in the ruck for the Tigers - don't think he will ever be a Sandi, however I would take a 70% of Sandilands ruckman.

Cheers,

Bowne impressed me in his senior games last year. Took a couple of really strong overhead marks which Graham has never done. He was also winning tap outs due to his good height, timing and good jump. He also gets on his knees at stoppages and gets a handball out. He's going to be a cult figure soon :thumbsu:

To be truthfully honest i can only remember 1 game in which he did something that stood out, and that was against the Crows in rd 18 last year at the G, remember he took a strong overhead mark and kicked truly from 50 halfway through the last qtr to give us a 2 goal lead

If he can break even in the hitouts tonight, i will be super impressed

Yeah, good luck to the big unit... I really hope he has come on.

I have not seen him since last year and thouh he had improved on his misguided debut round 1 2009, (stupid selection Wallet) he still looked a liitle slow and 'un aware'.
Only very young for a huge man so really is still a development player.

Tough gig tonight against a formidable combo... come on... play massive & surprise us big fella! :thumbsu:

I remember last year against Carlton(I think) where he got a free and wanted to go the wrong way, took him 10 seconds before he realised why the umpire was shouting at him.

Onya Big Browne!

sorrythought you were describing gus...i dont know that there is much between them, facts are gus hasnt done quite enough to keep someone out of the side that is belting the door down. I also suspect he is knackered after shouldering a heap of work in recent weeks

Belting the door down.

I hardly think so.

Agree with this... Good luck to him but I think Gus is merely being rested with the bye coming up in 2 weeks..

The big fella works his ass off, and goes to the right spots on the ground. He's actually more valuable around the ground than Gus simply because he a) gets to the right spots and b) can take a contested mark. I like him as a player, he's certainly not a modern athletic ruckman but I think he's got a future.

Has beaten Bellchambers on several occasions in the VFL, but Belly has improved out of sight this year so who knows how it will turn out.

So you are basing this over a career of 5 senior games where he has taken a massive 7 career total marks, 29 disposals and 38 hitouts, or are you basing it on what you have heard he has bone playing for Coburg?

I'm basing it on what I've seen at Coburg and at training.

Sure, but it doesn't change the fundamentals of the game, especially with ruckmen.

Certainly he's going to struggle the pace of ball movement at first, but every player does when they haven't played many games.

hasn't he been best on in recent weeks with ~ 20 possies...my guess is gus would go back there and still get his 7-10 touches...browney has worked hard he is a great tap ruckman as opposed to any old crude attempt at getting a hand on the footy...very much worth a shot

2-3 weeks. hopefully big X can get a crack in!

Yep I second that. I have a good feeling about the x man.

Until such a point it's Brownie's spot to lose. Hopefully he grabs it.
