I like him but he looks likes he gets buggered pretty quick.
Just feel he fits into our culture better than the others. Can really smash into the opposition ruckman and make it easier for Vickory later on.

I defy any ruckman in the league to be our number one ruckman and not look buggered. I think it had an adverse effect on Graham and quite frankly he had ran out of steam.I expect Browne to do so too within about a 3-4 week window and for Graham to come back. It's a pretty tough gig first ruck for Richmond.

Regardless of whom you support, with both Gus and Browne coming off the rookie list they are in great company. Other notable rookie ruckmen - Cox, Sandilands, Jamar and Mummy.

At this stage its obvious they wont be in their class, but who knows what the future holds as the others for what ever reason were initionally not good enough to be drafted and were overlooked only to be rookied.

My perspective

Browne did what Graham has never been able to do - INTIMIDATE

He crashed into Ryder and Bellchambers so hard that they looked timid for the rest of the game.

Is he the perfect modern ruckman? No

He's perfect for games where we need to make a physical statement. :thumbsu:

You've got to love the heart he showed. Just went out there and had a real crack and threw himself at every contest. May not have been the classiest performance but great to finally see a Tiger ruckman have a real dip. Its been a long time since i've seen that!!!

Time to watch Gus v Dockers, Lions, Roo`s and Pies.

:thumbsu:Excellent post ..... as I suggested on the 'Graham' thread .... there's quite a difference between Browne having a red-hot crack and Graham's feeble centre bounce tactices the previous weeks. It's called setting the example ... as the ruckman must do!!!

I don't understand why it's turned onto Browne v Graham dust up in here.
They both bring something to the table IMO and I'll enjoy watching them fight for a spot.Who knows if Ty keeps developing and being as agile and adaptable as he is we may see a day where Graham and Browne are in the same side.

I didn't mind Gus being dropped. Not for the reason that he's rubbish or soft or too slow or any of the other imagined things in here.
I think he ran out of gas . I'm certain he lost confidence.Yep he has an issue with his recent penchant for running into and looking at his opponent.I don't think his around the ground work was as bad as some make out and I'm a big fan if him when he plays up forward,so it's not the end of the world.

Go back and work on his technique, regain some confidence and he'll be a better player for it.I liked Brownes effort it was excellent though I suspect he'll run our of steam about 2-3 rounds after the bye and a better version of Angus Graham will get another shot.
I'm just going to enjoy watching both improve because I think were lucky that we have so much to work with.

Gus works his butt off but i've never once seen him initimidate an opposition ruckman, if you think he's intimidating then Aaron Fiora must make you wet your pants.

Give me one example where Browne intimidated either Ryder, Bellchambers and Hille?

If you're expecting me to provide an Aaron Davey moment then I can't, however all three Essendon ruckman were well below par, and up against pretty much one ruckman all night, so you can't blame fatigue for their sub-par performances.

As i said before, Browne didnt ruck against Hille except for a handfull of hitouts. Gus went up against Luenberger/McCauley and dominated them both, not to many wanted to pat him on the back after that game.

Will be interesting to see how he goes against Brogan. The game has almost passed him and you would expect Browne to dominate being younger in the warmer/humid conditions, but Brogan is street wise whereas Browne is raw. Will be a good contest and im looking forward to it.

Fair call, and like I said - Gus has a good work rate, but with a body his size I don't think he imposes himself enough - if I was as big as him i'd throw myself into packs without a worry in the world. Hopefully this friendly competition between Graham and Browne will only end in a positive result for the club. BTW - I haven't written Gus off, he has enough upside to keep persisting with him :thumbsu:

Any of you out there who have signed up to the Winners Circle, Jacko interviewed Browny this week, hes a funny kid. And still only 20, amazing.
Any chance these videos can be released a week or so later for us payed up members who can't afford to dig any deeper into our pockets.

I told you guys Browne would dominate. I also told you all weeks back Graham is a hack, who threw the bundle in against the dogs and was too scared to jump into Minson. I get abused by some and look what happens. Graham gets dropped for being a half hearted pussie and lets say "letting the jumper hit the floor".

Big Browne, totally not used to AFL pace comes in and crashes packs, actually wins hitouts to the advantage of our midfielders, is not afraid of contact and BEATS 3 very very good ruckman in Ryder, Hille and Bellchambers.

Browne won 24 hitouts with only 13% or only 3 hitouts going to advantage. Also I wouldn't say he beat all 3 of the Bomber ruckmen but he did compete well when it came to getting involved. Has a fair way to go to secure the number 1 spot but has given himself every chance of doing so if he can improve on some key areas.

say what dude?? LMAO...you have NFI..he toiled hard and gave it is all and anything else you would expect from a young kid brought in for a big game, but dominate is light years from what he did. ;)

Are you guys the same ones who sunk the boots into Vickery? I know a good player when I see one. Graham = hack, soft as butter princess. The writing was on the wall for him when he let the jumper hit the ground. By this I mean when he was scared of Minson and did not contest the ruck.

Wait till Browne gains confidence and gets a bigger tank. Will only improve.
