Carlton
A date with destiny
DON'T worry about looking at particular passages of plays as reasons why Carlton didn't get over the line against Sydney last Sunday.
It was all to do with the date of the match.
In its 130-year-plus history, Carlton has played only seven games on September 5. Three of them, including the first in 1903, were finals.
The Blues have won only one on that date- in Round 18 of 1908, against University at Princes Park.
The other six games have resulted in losses, with 10 being the greatest margin.
That includes Sunday's elimination final against Sydney and last year's elimination final against Brisbane Lions.
Blues historian Stephen Williamson also tells us that Carlton's first September 5 loss, in 1903, was also the Blues first final in the then-VFL.
Old enemy Collingwood scraped home by four points.

I am pretty sure Carlton has never won a game when there has been a high tide in Cooperpedy. A significant stat Ratts needs to address

Well that puts my mind at ease. I hope the club doesn't waste time reviewing the match or season now, I expect Ratts to come out in a presser, shrug his shoulders and say "we did all we could, not our fault it was on september 5"

To a Collingwood supporter born on Sept 5 these are beautiful numbers!!!!

Here are a good pair of numbers for you...

2
52

I think that you can work out the relevance of those two numbers yourself...

And dont worry about changing the smaller of the two numbers... Colliewobbles rule:D

Nope... you guys are the forever pretenders...

The AFL constantly throws you biased fixture lists and once in the last 50 years, you have managed to turn it into something worth while.

14 games at the G this year and I still reckon that the pussies will put you away this weekend.

You may be right, try and convince yourself.

But you know you may be wrong. A Collingwood flag, thats gotta hurt big time.

It will further illustrate how far you guys have fallen behind us since those halycon days last century

8 flags in 42 years is >>>>>>> than 1 flag in 50 years :D

So how is that falling behind Collingwood in the last century, or better still 50 years

It is actually halcyon not halycon.
Do you even know what the word means !!!!!!!!!!!

Here is a history lesson for you ........

Have a sneak peak at the "Greatest Game of All" :D

Greatest Game of All

September 5
A bit of checking on Blueseum added these games.

Greatest Game of All

Sorry for the spelling error. Do you think I have used the word out of context. If you know what it means you should know if I know what it means by what I have written. Maybe you dont consider them halcyon days but that would be strange

Then again from what I have bolded it doesnt seem comprehension is your strong suite.

Do you know the meaning of since?

Anyway I am concentrating on the present. It could be pretty sweet.

Good luck in 2011. If you continue to improve there could be some much more meaningful matches between us than there has been for a long time.

Ohh... another good set of numbers for ya :D

Carlton 65% conversion rate for premierships
Collingwood 35% conversion rate for premierships... and I expect that number to drop again if you do manage to make the final.

And I dont have to try and convince myself :) history is on my side, you lot are the biggest premiership chokers ever.
