Hey, I missed out on watching and listening to last nights game and I have only seen the highlights and stats which often don't tell you much. So I just have a few questions that I would like answered from anyone who saw it. Appreciated.

- How did the 3 first years go in Edwards, Riewoldt and mainly Conners?
- Newman had 24 touches, the most of anyone, was he our best?
- Did Raines, King, Conners, Tambling or Newman spend much time in the middle?
- Thurstfield was listed in our bets in the HUN, what was so good about his game
- Was Polak loose or accountable?
- How did McGuane do?
- Who did Hall mainly kick his 7 goals on?
- Did Moore and Krak do enough to be selected next week?
- Who should be dropped next week?

- Edwards was fantastic, Riewoldt played well (particularly in the first half, kicking a goal from outside 50), Conners showed promise in his first game, and he showed he has the confidence to take the opposition on

- Newman IMO was BOG for the tigers, he is sensational, and deserves captaincy next year.

- Raines, Blinh, Newman and Connors all spent time in the middle, as far as i could tell King was around half back for most of the game

-Thursty put his body on the line on a number of times and produced some fantastic spoils (at least 5 times he smacked the ball out of the contest)

-Polak looked to be on hall? (i think) for most of the night, either way he looked accountable.

- McGuane looked ok, i didnt really see him do anything magical, but he played his role ok

- Hall im pretty sure was on Polak, but he could have been on thursty (sorry was a little tipsy and my brain isnt thinking today)

- I thought Moore played an 'ok' for him,but still not great, where as i think Kraks might be dropped again. There were times when i thought Kraks was gunna produce something special, but just never happened

- Kraks/Pattison/Moore/Raines should be dropped i think.

- How did the 3 first years go in Edwards, Riewoldt and mainly Conners?

Edwards was good again, will benefit from gym time obviously, plus that little bit of confidence that allows you to balance up properly before you kick. He's going to be a very good player.

Reiwoldt suffered a bit from the lack of delivery (quality or otherwise), but showed good signs again.

Connors would have learned a lot. Showed good composure for a debutant, has good skills (as we already know), and looks at home out there. Made a couple of blues, but nothing he won't learn from quickly.

- Newman had 24 touches, the most of anyone, was he our best?

He was pretty good, aside from getting a bath defensively. Some good attacking work up the wing and mostly good delivery.

- Did Raines, King, Conners, Tambling or Newman spend much time in the middle?

Raines tagged Goodes, so yes - probably his best game for the season, but not anything you'd put in the archives. :p

Tambling mostly alternated with Krakouer, and you'd have to say he did alright considering he was up against the Swans bruisers. He's one of only a handful of players that can take the ball at half back, outsprint everyone in sight and then deliver a long, deep, fast ball to the forward line. That alone puts him ahead of plenty of other players - it's exactly what Wallace wants in our future side.

The rest mostly played defense.

- Thurstfield was listed in our bets in the HUN, what was so good about his game

Played on O'Loughlin and did well - though this had a fair bit to do with the fact every other Swans forward was on fire. O'Loughlin had limited opportunities.

- Was Polak loose or accountable?

Both. Spent some time on Hall but got moved when it was obvious Hall was on song and in for a big night, spent some time on Everitt early and gave up a couple (one he kicked straight to him 30m out), he also was loose a fair bit and mostly ended up marking what looked like Schneider at those times. Some of his disposal was very ordinary and he didn't end up dominating in the air as he sometimes does.

- How did McGuane do?

The kid had 6 of Hall's kicked on him, battled hard, stuck up for himself when Hall gave it to him which I was proud to see, not strong enough to hold Hall at ground level and not quick enough to catch him on the lead. Not big enough ATM (and won't be for a while - if ever) to be a key defender playing on giants. It's a lesson in the difference between genuinely big and strong and not quite there if you watch Ray Hall beat Barry Hall at the SCG in 2004, then watch McGuane struggle last night. He simply wasn't big enough and doesn't have enough other tricks in the book (speed, height, reach, nouse) to overcome the size issue. But nobody could blame the kid, he was simply outsized and Hall exploited it well.

Managed 12 possessions and didn't butcher most of them this week (just a couple), so that was a real positive.

- Did Moore and Krak do enough to be selected next week?

No on both counts.

- Who should be dropped next week?

Moore for Casserley, Krakouer for anyone...maybe Schulz rotated for Reiwoldt (who did ok, but IMO we need to rotate them). Both Reiwoldt and Hughes were as good as Richo, if not better...which could make things interesting in the future if we're picking solely on recent form. ;)
