Is anyone feeling a little nervous about saturday night?

I know most of us are heading into the clash with the Lions expecting a win (myself included), however a few areas concern me for the clash with the Lions.

Firstly, their extra height up forward with the likes of Clark, Leunberger and McCauley drifting forward may test out our backline who at the moment are batting away admirably, albeit, without much height or bigger bodies. In addition with this, our ruck stocks are a little questionable and the Lions have strength in this area.

Secondly, Merret is in great touch and if we become predictable we could be in a little strife. Very important for the likes of 'Push up' and all the mids to push down and be at Jack's feet because one things for sure, if he isn't using Merret as a step ladder, he will be bring the pill to ground.

Lastly, their midfield, whilst being inferior to ours still possesses some real up and coming talent. The likes of Rockliff, Redden and the mature bodies of black and power combine pretty well and cannot be under estimated.

Does anyone agree with me when I share some little fears for this game. Lions had 3 or so more days of rest as well this week and as we are coming off a tough hard fought battle we may be a little tender...

Nevertheless, it was a 'hollow win' so maybe we will prevail as we probably should!!

Yes indeed. Our backline is stupid. But we have the confidence and the I think if we win this game we will gain even more momentum. If we can stop the slow starts we will definitely win.

This game will come down to how we start, if we start like we have in all other games this season it will be a tight slog. If we jump out of the blocks I'm tipping we run away with it. I reckon our pace will worry them through the middle, and as good as Merret has been and he has been very good, he hasn't played on anyone like Jack yet this year. Been against some guys that are not on the same page when it comes to overhead marking as Jack.

How many goals have they kicked between them in 2011, i know clark kicked 3 in 1 game

Is this Andrew Raines? lol just jokes. Yes I always get a bit nervous when we are the favourites. Mainly because in the Wallace and Frawley era's, we would always drop games we were expected to win. But to be fair, there is no reason why the current playing group would suffer from that. There is finally some real belief in the side, as evidenced by our plucky efforts against some top sides.

Anyway, don't rate Brissy. They played pretty well last week but no Brown, no more Rischitelli and Brennan, Black is a shadow of his former self, Rich and Power aren't flying, we should comfortably account for them. Bookies agree by having us at $1.30 to $3.00 for them.

Granted. However, have they faced a backline that lacks as much height as ours does currently? We had Rance on petrie for most part of last Sunday and Petrie isn't as tall as those 3 and he wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire in his previous 2 perfomances. With that being said, the addition of our vulnerable rucks doesn't wrap me in confidence.

Being nervous before any game, especially after a win the week before, is part of our nature nowadays. But for me, it's as simple as this... if we turn up to play, we take home the points. Mainly due to being in Melbourne and Brown being out.

To be honest, it's not like their talls are absolute guns. They will only dominate if we, for some reason, get smashed at the clearances. And I can't see that happening, unless of course, we turn up still smarting from last week's win.

Merret v Jack will be a great contest, but Jack did just fine on him last year at the Gabba, and nothing much has changed since then. Given the supply, Jack will play his part. He's just as good on the ground as he is in the air.

King may well play on Adcock, who has been real good for them recently. In Jacko's absence, would love to see Conca go head to head with one of their young guns - Redden or Rockliff. Conca has done a good apprenticeship down back defensively, and will be even more comfortable playing a similar role away from the goalsquare.

White to run with Power.

Think we will win by 12-30 points.

Picture our forwardline without Jack. That's pretty much what we'll have to stop on Saturday night. Mitch Clarke leads their goal kicking with 7. There's a couple of guys on 5 but thats it.

This is the most confident I've been of a win since West Coast last year. I have no idea what will happen if we lose. I'm not even going to consider it.

Who do you think will be tagged? Deledio, Cotchin or Martin???

Who do you think will be matched up on Miller??? Lets see how it goes in the first quarter when we kick the ball to Riewoldt. And if it doesn't work we should mix it up a bit, kick it to Vickery/post or Miller. Then in the 3rd quarter...

MARTIN GOES TO THE GOALSQUARE.

VERY VERY worried about Rance and McGuane. If they are better than last week I think we'll be fine. Also we need to touch up on our kick-ins.

Our ruck... :thumbsd::o if Gus goes for the bloody ball and give away a free by going for the player we'll be a bit better. I mean it's not as if we are going against Cox and Naitanui or Sandilands, so we won't get completely dominated. He needs to increase his tank. For a person who plays ruck and plays 92% of the game we need that person to increase their tank.

Yes, I saw it, once, apparently we went 'OK' on the night, wasn't to long ago actually.

Based on? Hopefully not last week, we got the ball out of the defensive 50 with absolute ease, particularly from kick-ins. Paul Roos was commenting on it all game.

Are you expecting a run with role on our young dusty on saturday night Rainsy? If so, I hope you've improved your tank since your time at punt rd!

The things that worry me are:

1. Their ruckmen v our ruck;
2. Their talls and our defense;
3. They're off a bye and a 9 day break - we're off a 6 day break; and
4. Potential for fog at tulla airport Saturday.

Leuneberger is ok no world beater. Watched him last week and thought to myself he is a bit average considering his high draft selection. Better than Graham - yes he is but that isn't too hard.

Our defence was sloppy last week but given Moore's return around the corner, Asthbury and Thursfield on the sidelines, the competition for spots is getting hotter.
Expect Batchelor to come back in and give us some poise down back.

The short break is a bit of a concern considering Brissy had a bye the week before.

The thing that worries me is the slow starts. The lions blew Melbourne away at the G a month ago in the 1st quarter and nearly wrapped up the game.

I think this game will be like a changing of the guard in some respects.
Two older midfielders in Black and Power handing the mantle over to the younger Cotchin and Martin.

This is a game that we should win, the problem is that in the past we've found a way to lose it. We need to win this and win it well to prove that we're making real progress.

Funniest thing is reading the Lions board. The key to this match is their number 1 gun Andrew Rains who will be to good and shut down Martin.

Wow, i mean just wow, they are actually serious.

If true, that is the funniest statement I've heard this season.

Andrew Raines successfully tagging Dustin Martin is like expecting to win a Moto GP on a pushbike!

Very true. Mods have already warned Tiges to pull our heads in or leave, but what do they expect when these crazy statements are being made. Some are saying its a coin toss if he should go to either Martin or Cotchin. First time i have ever been to their board and its an eye opener. I only thought Carlton posters carried on like that.
