Headland shouldnt need Hasleby, J. Carr or anyone else to get him the ball. Yes it would help Des if Hasleby gave him the ball 25+ times per game but reality is Des needs to work a lot harder to get the ball himself and not rely on his teammates to win it for him. As far as im concerned this inside/outside player stuff is garbage, if the ball is there to be won you go and get it, not wait until an "inside" player comes to feed the ball out.

We are talking about the stoppages. If the inside mids (players around the stoppages) can get the ball out efficiently, the wings/ half forwards (Headland) will be a lot more effective.

You don't want to throw all your midfielders in at the stoppages otherwise it will be too congested and there will be spacing issues around the ground.

When the ball is there to be won though, Headland goes for it. He might not be skilled in winning the ball but he doesn't shirk it. Watch him closely this weeeknd.

Do I? Can't recall saying that or thinking it. Plus I also don't think that he does, but I am certain that in the team plan he pretty much plays exactly the role that he is asked to.

he may be asked to play a certain role in the teams plan but if the ball is there to be won no matter whether you are an inside or an outside player go and get it. dont expect a teammate to go get and wait to receive the handball
