Tim56 said:Well Hoss, every time I posted something considered and intelligent, I would just get faced with the typical rubbish the collective left poses, so I decided to lower myself to their standards. I can't be bothered wasting time with stupid people over topics which have been discussed multiple times. If the calibre of discussion increases, then fine, I'll be happy to rise to the occasion. Until then...

Care to back this up with a link? Or are you just talking your usual crap?coasting said:About the only thing I have heard John Howard say he believes in is a white australia policy.
Tim.Thanks for your answer.Tim56 said:Bombers2003:
I can't speak for the man but his achievements in parliament over the past 30 years and public statements lead me to believe this (in no particular order):
1. A small government which minimises interference in the lives of ordinary Australians
2. That all Australians are entitled to a basic level of economic support as well as access to health and education
3. That goods and services are best provided by the efficient private sector, and that it should no be stifled be excessive taxation, 'protection' or red tape
4. The importance of the family unit for a strong, cohesive society and wellbeing of children
5. That national security is best maintained and enhanced through partnerships both with traditional allies such as the US and emerging partners in Asia
6. The liberal values of freedom of speech, thought, communication, worship, and the inerent need for tolerance of others found in those values
7. That Australia is a great country with a proud history
For the most part I believe he has lived up to these values, although some exceptions do exist.
Hoss: I do concede that I have probably let the election victory go to my head, so to speak. Thank you for helping to keep me honest.
Oh ,just like Hitler.MGREG said:Hell Stalin? That explains it.
He killed 20 million of his own people. Big hero.
Ok.Tim56 said:Bombers2003:

Ok.
1-So that's why he wont increase the Pension quaterly and will give give them a yearly increase of $ 100.The pension was supposed to be 25% of Average male income,i believe now it's only about 20%.I think the pension should be 70-80% of annual Wages as it is in the rest of the world.
2-If he believes in Tolerance, why does he REFUSE to acknowledge the part played by non-whites in Australian society?.
3-If he is such a good parliamentarian, why does he not accept that there are rules relating to parliamentary conduct and there is punishment for those who break the rules as there is Law for the rest of us?.
4-If australia 'has a great history'when is he going to acknowledge the contribution of the aboriginals or would that be too much?.
Tim56 said:I agree that the decline in parliamentary standards has been disappointing, but Howard cannot be blamed for that nearly as much as his predecessor.
Care to back these up with some evidence? Or will you conveniently ignore this request just as you did when you claimed that blacks were being murdered to prevent from voting Republic?Bombers 2003 said:2-If he believes in Tolerance, why does he REFUSE to acknowledge the part played by non-whites in Australian society?.

But what i meant was,is thisTim56 said:I agree that the decline in parliamentary standards has been disappointing, but Howard cannot be blamed for that nearly as much as his predecessor.
I think Fraser was the best example of that rather than RJL Hawke. Ultimately, by dismissing several ministers (seven or eight in the end) for often minor indiscretions Fraser destabilised his government and lost several very capable people. Howard did dismiss ministers over the travel rorts affair back in 96, but I don't think that anything Tuckey did was worthy of dismissal, and Draper wasn't even a minister.Bombers 2003 said:But what i meant was,is this
Hawke,as an example, moved quickly to dismiss Ministers or Backbenchers who broke the parliamentary code of Conduct. While Howard has done nothing,eg Wilson Tuckey or Trish Draper.

How does that back up what you said? The two issues are unrelated. No wonder people pay you out all the time.coasting said:Erm it is a well known fact that in the 80s he said several times that there were too many asian immigrants. I'm not going to look for a quote for you, you can do it yourself if you don't believe me but since the internet wasn't really around in the 80s you might have a difficult time finding it.
