I have the original Age of Empires on my computer and it works fine but I have a question...I wanna get the new Age of Empires - Mythology which looks really cool but because it is new and the original AOE is ancient Im not sure if when I buy it, it will run on my computer?

Dont ask me for my specs because I have no idea...that probably wont help? Maybe if someone can tell me where to go to find out what my specs are. Seems logical that if I can run AOE then I should be able to run a newer AOE?

Anyways any help would be appreciated.

HAHAHA nothing is logical when it comes to computers;)
How it basically works is as computers get better, games get better(ie need more specs) to give the most for that game, at the expense of the poor ass person whos stuck behind with an old computer. Not saying you r this jod, but dont base whether you can play a new game or not on whether you can play the older version, it just doesnt work.

If you have XP i know how to get a few of your specs. Right Click on my computer and choose properties. At the bottom of the window that comes up(should be in the General Tab) is this
Computer:
What Processor you have
What MHZ speed your computer is
What RAM you have.

If you have 98 this same process will get you what RAM you have but i forget if it tells you your computer speed.
Another thing you'll prob need to know is what graphics card you have if the new AOE needs a good one etc, but dont ask me to tell you what u have, i only have a rough idea what i myself have:D. But yeah, hope that helps.

I have AOE2 running on a celeron 450 with a majorly crappy onboard system without any problems. About the only thing this computer has going for it is the 320meg ram. But hey its a good toy for my 7yr old son.

Yes, the system properties *might* show you your CPU speed. Mine doesn't. It just shows you something like "x86 speed stepping" something. Can't remember. It would be a good idea if you told us when you bought your comp and whether it was cutting edge at the time. Then it should be easy. Age of Myth requires a fair bit of ram, especially if you want to play with more than 4 teams (single player im talking about). I can usually get away with playing with 6 teams for a random map on my secondary computer( Duron 1.2 Ghz, 256MB RAM), but any more and the play starts to get slow (sometimes short hangs)...

Age of Mythology Requirements:

Microsoft® Windows® 98/Me/XP/2000
PC with 450 MHz equivalent or higher processor
Sound card, speakers or headphones required for audio
128 MB of system RAM
16 MB video card required
1.5 GB available hard disk space
4x speed or faster CD-ROM drive
Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device
56.6 Kbps or better modem for online play

To find out more about your computer....go to start, run...and type in dxdiag.

This will tell you all your computer specs....you might have probs running it though....although a standard computer should have the capability to run it.

These would be the minimum specs. Yes you could play with a comp. like this, but you could only have 'bout 1 computer player. Later in a game you will notice the problems when there are lots of units on the screen....

I would say that it would be a fair bet that it wont run on your puter.
