What a amazing job Eddie and co have done for this great club. In a competition designed to ensure that every club has a chance to win the flag once every 18 years, our period of sustained success the last 20 years should be rejoiced.
Delivering a Flag, 6 Grand final appearances, and 13 finals series. 2 Brownlow medalists, player of the years in both coaches and peers. and countless individual awards, AA and accolades.
If those shallow enough who only want to count winning the premiership as " success " then 8 clubs have completely failed. and we are equal 5th in terms of success. ( let's not even talk about the 2 flags the we were robbed of ".
Only Geelong has bettered our number of finals appearances over the last 20 years ( I tip my hat off to them ) which only goes to show how remarkable we have been without bottoming out with top draft pciks for an extended period of time. AKA Carlsumn. and nor have we traded out our soul, we have stuck side by side our players. ( Apologies H Shaw )
As I think most of us agree that we do require some player personnel change, ( as do all clubs it must be noted ), some of the notions that Eddie must Go, Bucks must Go and 3/4 of the team should be delisted is crazy.
I have absolute faith the Eddie and co. will yet again put us in a position to contend in the next 1-5 years as he has proven time and again. this is not a time for panic but a time to take stock, rebalance and go again.
yes we have probably close to 6 retiree's. but out of those 6 none were / have been really part of our best 22 the last 2-3 years anyway. so our core is still very strong. and with the likes of Reef and Daicos jnr. coming trough our future is looking bright.
Time to celebrate.
