Watching the boys against men on Sunday reminded me of Zac Dawson being slaughtered by Anthony Rocca. The only difference is that we had a team of Dawsons and the slaughter lasted 4 quarters instead of 1 quarter.

From what I have seen Dawson never fully recovered from his experience and is still languishing in the reserves. What sort of mental scarring will this leave on our players and what can be done to get them through it.

A sports psychologist should be the first priority down at Punt Road to find out why this happened after 5 weeks of being competitive and how to get the players confidence back.

Let's try to ignore the hysteria and try to come up with some practical solutions. Any other more productive solutions than sack the coach, players and administration?

Bit rich bringing up Zac Dawson in to this. He wasnt responsible for your flogging.

Pretty simple though. Zac Dawson cant get a game with us because he isn't good enough. Apply the same philosophy to your team and you have your answer.

You wouldnt start again but you have to get rid of middle of the road players. Whether you like to hear it or not, there are players in your team that you build up but they only look half decent because the rest of the team are so cr*p. Its like a mirage. These include Johnson, Richardson, Pettifer, Schulz, Hall and Tuck. There are probably another 3 players that you could throw in there as well. Yes its half your team but idiot Wallet should have done the clean out when he started.

Keep Deledio, Foley, Raines and Tambling (although he isnt much chop either) and at least you have some foundation to work with.

Feel sorry for the club but the board is responsible for appointing Wallace. Its going to take another 5 or 6 years to rebuild so patience is required.

Not a bad post, but it won't take 5 or 6 years IMO. Simple. We don't enough players (good player at that) in the crucial 22 to 27 age bracket. We have veterans (Richo, Brown, Simmonds etc) and kids. Once our kids get 60 to 80 games experience and reach that critical 23-24 year age bracket we will have something to work with.
It will take 3 to 4 years IMO.

Dawson had a few shockers mate but he and his mates have never seen the likes of that flogging. You seem to forget that these 'floggings' Zac got, were mostly 6 goal performances by his opponent, not 9 or 10, and the reason for the noise was that while Clarkson left Zac on his opponent, we lost a game by a couple of goals we otherwise should have won. Perhaps now a few of you blokes will take note of how bad the move to force Gaspar to retire was. The bloke provided courage and leadership. Two among many attributes you guys seemed to lack last night. Pretty important IMO that you have a guy like Gas to show how it's done. Anyway too late now. Now you start re-building your side again with a view to the future. Isn't that what has been going on for the last 3 -10 years anyway? When are you going to make someone accountable for the success you should have had and as yet haven't, just to be told you are rebuilding and going for youth again. IMO Terry has been a mistake. He hasn't had a clear plan on what he wants to achieve or a set structure on how to achieve it, his outlook changes like the wind. You guys just stopped trying last night, it was embarrassing. Didn't look like the boys had pride in themselves and they certainly didn't lift after Terry's speeches at the breaks. But tigers remember a flogging like that will burn deep and you can only hope that the boys aspire to do to an opposition what it has just done to them. Good luck

what happened to dawson should not happen to any player, surely clarkson could make the moves than just leave him take a flogging. But I think wallace has trumped him with his lack of action.

Couldn't believe he crucified Zac like that and I don't think anyone at Hawthorn has forgiven that yet. But yeah Terry has gone one better. FWIW you probably could have used Dawson last night, at least the bloke never gives up. Not sure if he'll make it now though. Hope he does. As far as your young blokes like McGuane it was very much a Dawson situation for them but what choice do you have when you give guys like Gaspar the arse, what moves can you make? The poor blokes had to stand there and cop one of the biggest floggings we will ever see. You want game time for your kids Terry? You got it!
