today i was having a chat with my best friend ( Cat ) when the following interesting exchange took place:

Cat: so, it's good to see that Cuzzy does have an ego after all
Me: huh?????
Cat: C'mon Tali, ever since that new boy got so good he's been trying his arse of to upstage him
Me: new boy???( this was after a vino or 10 )
Cat: the new boy, the one who likes to wear masking tape on his shoulders ( she has NO idea about footy)
Me: Judd?
Cat: yeah him


anyone else think she may have a point? Cuz has been our star for ages, maybe some competition ( in the form of "masking-tape boy" ) is making him a bit nervous? Think about it, Judd starts getting MAJOR kudos for being a little superstar and Cuz, who by all accounts has been...conserving energy....starts to put his heart and soul back into the game??

now, personally, i think that Princess is above such stupid little boy behavior but it does make you think

I'd like to think the attention Judd is receiving is releasing some of the pressure on Cuz, rather than him attempting to regain the spotlight by lifting his performance.

But a bit of 'hatchling' rivalry wouldn't go astray.
All friendly of course....

It's only girls who think up nonsense like this. The AFL isn't Woman's Day, Cosmo, or The Bold and the Beautiful.

It is much much simpler actually - just a bunch of men trying to win a game of footy. Nothing more.

I'm not too sure about that, Bunsen.
I think it might have some merit.

I don't think Cuzz will be "accidentally" dropping a barbell on Judd's foot or anything like that, but I can see the two developing a bit of a rivalry over the next couple of years.

But the real rivalry could come from Judd's facial hair.
Chad Morrison has prided himself on having the best designer goatee for a couple of years now, and I wouldn't be surprised if he attacks young Judd with a razor in the near future.

I think Cousins is secure in his own abilities to know that he is still streets away as our best player. Judd looks the goods but Cousins is the top 10 players in the whole competition. I dont think Cuz is worrying about losing the spotlight.

If anything, he should be worried about Bell. Hasnt Cuz taken home the WA Footballers of the Year award two years running. Bell is leading that comp so far. Still its only 3 votes and Bell has been ON FIRE with Cousins just being good.

Goes to show how good Cuz really is i suppose.

I don't think so- Chad has an entire year to do nothing but plan his goatee, follicle by follicle. I expect to see a truly magnificent effort next year. Judd's facial hair shows potential, but still has a long way to go before it forms into anything concrete.

..Which gets me thinking- what facial hair would you most like to see on West Coast players??
As I've said previously, I think BB should try and cultivate a Merv Hughes style Mo, can you imagine him bearing down on a defender with that?.. Gardiner seems the designer stubble sort to me (as opposed to Scott Cummings' distinctly undesigner stubble.) Josh Wooden is also a prime candidate for some gangster-stubble.
Peter Matera should just stop shaving all together- in a year or so, with the bald head and foot long greybeard, he'd look like a tibetan monk.
Finally though, I'd love to see our illustrious captain shed his pretty boy image, get serious, and cultivate some mutton chops!

Firstly, Troy 'tank' Wilson has to keep the pornstar hair-do. If he does want to go for a new image I'd recommend the Angry Anderson bald look. He'll look like a brickwall falling down on the opposition when he crashes those packs!

It's time for Ben Cousins to drop the straight hair look and to re-adopt the Vanilla Ice style. Should raise one or two eyebrows at Subi.

Kerr with dreddies, Peter Matera with the grey sideburns, Jako to regrow his 92' mullet, and Callum Chambers to dye his hair pink (Or "flaming red" last year) all could be on the cards

Also like to see Wirrpunda grow his hair real long again and maybe bleach it blonde....he'll win the brownlow

I remember that skinny little 16yr old aboriginal kid running around Subi getting his hair tangled in his boot laces. Then one year out walked this solid, short haired fella who dazzled the crowds with his silky skills and continually left the opposition to breath in the smoke from his boots. The transformation was amazing.

Personally I could see Andy Williams with a cartoon villianesque / french chef pencil thin type mo... The usually ultra-neat Brauny going the full beard, and perhaps the rastafarian look for Wirra? Troys hair has to stay, although a little more height wouldn't hurt, and Cuz shoud look at a David Beckham style 'do.

LOL...Williams is perfect, always thought he could play a B Grade villain in a lame action movie
