Have any of you ever witnessed someone that turns the ball with their thumb?
There is a bloke that uses his thumb to bowl offies and he turns it a mile.
Could revolutionise the game.
He spins it further than Shane Warne on a turning wicket.

Used to play with a guy who did that out of the back of the hand - they were all wrong 'uns.

Ridiculously hard to play because I just couldn't work out how he did it or the logic behind how it spun to leg.

He couldn't bowl a legspinner to save his life. I bowled (very) ordinary leg spin so we tried to teach each other how we did it and neither of us could.

Is it possible to bowl off spinners with your thumb? Wouldn't they just be wrong uns?

I had a mate who could only bowl wrong uns and not leg spinners. It was quite odd.

Mate..... I had the exact same thing.

Best mate couldn't bowl anything but wronguns.... I couldn't bowl anything but leggies..... We tried to help each other but didn't help in our case either.

He got a hell of alot of turn though.

If you hold your hand out straight, palm facing down, all you are doing is bringing your thumb over the ball, therefore it spins right.
Sort of like a clicking action but with your thumb and fingers apart.

Bowl a top spinner but twist your wrist around more and it'll spin the other way.

My mate can spin it a mile bowling leggies, I can spin a wrong un a mile, but we cant do the opposite. I used to be able to bowl leggies but had a bad couple of games and gave up, after that I worked out the wrong un but couldnt get the leggie right ever again

As for offies, they are very easy to spin a mile even on synthetic

That's just a traditional wrong 'un. I can (often) do that and (sometimes) land them as well but I kept injuring my elbow by over-extending it.

We were talking about spinning the thing with your thumb.

Very common. I could bowl left arm wrist spin but as soon as I developed a wrong-un, my regular "leggie" wouldn't go off the straight - could land it alright but it wouldn't turn.

I bowl my offies using my thumb, but it is very hard to do with a cricket ball, as it's too hard and usually ends up giving you a very sore digit. With a tennis ball it is gold.

I've seen your stats as an offie. Better try mediums now. ;)

I can only bowl wrong-uns.

I'm an off spinner by the way, lol.

You can spin it the right way if you use your thumb but it's ridiculously hard.

I cannot bowl the doosra, it is impossible with a normal action, can sort of do it by really chucking, looks funny as well but spins a mile

Bowling offies with more wrist like Murali is great, a ton of turn

True, you can turn it sideways hey.
lol It's great fun bowling them in backyard cricket.
On a cricket pitch i bowl too loopy, can't get the pace.

If you can only bowl wrong'uns and not leggies , it is probably because you're bringing your arm way passed the perpendicular.
Put a large bandage on your thumb and it makes it easier on the hand and gives more friction to turn it with.

every man and his dog can do it with a tennis ball, but its a blatant throw
