Hi Guys,
I know this happened ages ago, but today was reminded how shite channel 7 are. When the Geelong V Collingwood prelim was on, it was not televised live into Sydney - it was delayed by an hour as Better Homes and Gardens was on. I was totally *****ed off! A group of us sent our complaints to Sunrise in the hope Mark Baretta would mention it - nothing was done.
Today as I'm watching Sunrise, Baretts starts complaining about how ABC are not televising the Netball world cup final live as Gardening Australia is on and the ABC should do something about it - very hypocritical...

Yeah, that is pretty stupid.

Sevens commentary of the Prelim Final was terrible too. Please show some excitement!!!!!!!!!!!!!:mad:

Even more hypocritical when just 1 week ago ch7 could've shown the V8 Supercars,which Beretta works on,live from Bahrain.Instead they stuck on some poxy 3hr movie and delayed it by about an hour.

ch7 should be the last network to complain about others coverage.

They are dreadfull. We refer to them in our house as Channel Ads. Only decent shows they have are absolutely infested with ads. We don't watch Kath and Kim any more, we will buy the series video instead. Sucked in by the first series of prison break. Refuse to watch the present series. Not only does the amount of ads suck but their footy camera work is very poor too.
I fully support your whinge, you can tell I have been bottling one up for a while.

Should have sent it in to the Footy Show or Channel 9, they would have had a field day with it. Almost guaranteed exposure there.

Know what you mean there lexn. I used to refer to Prison Break as Commercial Break, as there seemed to be as many ad breaks during that show as there was actual show.
 
i pretty much agree with everything said about 7 here, i think Baretta would agree the Prelim delay by an hour into Sydney was a joke but in the interests of saving his job said nothing. It was pretty poor to here him knock another network though. Agreed 7 sport coverage is ordinary at best lately.

Unfortunately Cat fans, the price we pay for being an on feild success this year is more channel 7 games next year.

On the up side if you're at the game you'll have time to go take a piss and get your beer in between goals such is the length of the break.

I lost patience (pun not intended) with the likes of Lost and Heroes because of the ridiculous amount of commercials that seven would run while showing them.

Would be interesting though if Seven decided to air one of those "world's greatest commercials" shows. You wouldn't be able to tell which part was advertisements and which part was the actual show. :D

Well that tops it off i think i might have to buy that PS3 now, cant watch anymore TV and foxtels got that many repetes im seeing double, aaaarrrrhhhhh !!!!!!!! Cant belive the AFL gave these monkeys the rights and shut down the only thing (Pre big footy) keeping me sane in the summertime Fox Footy, I how i miss you clinton........................... **** YOU VLAD YOU GREEDY MOTHER****ER !!!!!! could have gone a few million less and i would be happy now :thumbsd::thumbsd::thumbsd:

Guys, you need to get a grip. All 3 of the commercial network show the same amount of ads. It's government regulated, with a maximum amount of time per hour that can be devoted to ads, and is applied across the board, so that 7, 9 and 10 play the same amount of ads (in minutes per hour) as each other.

There is a higher allowance during certain times of the day, so you'll notice that during pime time there are more ads than say, at 2am. Again, this is the same for each network.

The only difference is how they choose to deploy these ads. There is a limit per hour, but the size of the blocks of ads are at the network's discretion. So, for instance, if you've been watching Californication (10) you'll notice they have a couple of 'short' breaks during the show, running just 2 ads, then a few breaks with a stack of ads. During live footy telecasts, on the other hand, there is an ad every time a goal is scored. (Have you ever wondered what would happen in a goalless quarter? They'd probably broadcast ads the entire q/t break to catch up!!) The way these ads are actually deployed is quite a complex marketing science, obviously designed to optimise viewer reach effectiveness.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not defending seven's actual broadcast, but just remember that all networks are the same in the ad game..!

IIRC a few years back MediaWatch showed this was not in fact the case - Today went well over the limit, and as far as I'm aware nothing was done.

would have been relatively isolated case though. pretty easy to monitor...
