Thanks for the reply I thought I was never going to get one!

Exactly why did they give up Massie? Did he do something wrong or was someone just not thinking right? Did he want to leave (does he come from SA)?

God knows. Massie started 2001 in career best form but broke his leg midseason. Maybe Brittain felt that he had under performed prior to 2001 and wouldn't come back after his injury? Maybe Britts was swayed by Eccles having a premiership medal? Whatever the reason, nobody looked at Eccle's kicking ability and sold out Massie who was all heart. Big, big error, fortunately Massie will never be an out and out star but he will be a decent player for a while yet. Eccles? Well he will be kicking the dew off a suburban ground any time now.

The reason I believe we moved Massie on, was because he was just going to be a Medium sized defender, and not a key position player. Eccles at the same time showed potential as a midfielder with some average to good performances for Adelaide. The trade was done, and sadly for us it has back fired terribly. Eccles has been a big disappointment!

Massie is a hack. would struggle at Carlton. Hes okay in a good side, but who wouldn't be?
Massie and Livingston are exactly the same imo.
