If you have a look on youtube you will find some vids of him playing in the SANFL. It's not the best quality but it will give you an idea of what he's like.

He seems to be a tall, quick, running player who can play at both ends. Looks like he has a very good pair of hands and can kick both sides of the body.

Could be a good pick up. At least worth a rookie spot.:thumbsu:

rookie spot maybe but he can't be that great if Adelaide delisted him and was like pick 100

I may be wrong here but I thought Adelaide drafted him as a bottom age project player, much like we have with Caleb Tiller, and they saw no real future for him in a fairly young and cemented forward line.

Im not 100% on this, can anyone confirm or deny for clarification?

Can anyone be bothered digging up his draft profiles?
Fine.......I'll do it myself then.......:D

the 2007 ND thread started on the Crows board. Interesting they can him after 2 years when they seem to indicate he was VERY bottom age and unlikely to be ready for 3-4 years.

Has a fair bit of upside and imo its to early to tell if he'll make it or not. I see him as half forward flanker at AFL level.

Strengths: Good hands, can take a contested mark. Athletic and as mentioned previously has pace. Also a decent kick for goal and field kicking is good too. Has plenty of confidence. He's also played the game from a very young age.

Weaknesses: Understandably very skiny and needs to put some weight on. Doesn't like body contact and can make poor choices with the footy at times. Maybe not so much a weakness but won't be ready for AFL footy for 3-4 yrs.

That he is a pretty good athlete but very raw and will take time. He said that he was constantly trying to get out of hard work and testing. That adelaide may get him away from some bad influences on him in melbourne.

Saying that, the feedback from the crows to calder was that he was the standout performer out of all the recruits in week one of training.
Maybe they couldn't train the lazy streak out of him.

Others indicating a number of KPP types on the list already and further advanced than Kite.

Lets not forget Mr Chamber, that Not Every Player delisted is spuds.
I'll take him as a rookie if they think his good enough his young.McGuire has played near 100 games and will not get better people say that he will be good, remember Saddington.

We might as well go for someone who has more better football in them and can give many years say Thorp or Simon Buckley or players under 23

I would love if Carlton put Kite on the rookie list,
he has alot of pace and i thik could turn into a player

Playing type... supposedly a Karl Norman type

Karl Norman could have been anything if he had his head right. He could play on talls & smalls. I remember him keeping Phil Matera, who at the time was the Eagles' best forward, to just 4 disposals in our win over the Eagles at Visy Park in 2004. So good was Norman that day, 3 of Matera's 4 disposals were won outside the Eagles' F50 & Matera never looked like kicking a goal.

If Kite has a better head on his shoulders than Norman, he would be worth considering with a late pick in the ND, or being looked at in the rookie draft.

Not sure why Saddington is used as a trade horror story. Saddington was worth the gamble in a side that clearly lacked experienced tall defenders. He was originally drafted at pick 11 and was about 195cm tall. To get him with pick 50-odd, seemed like a worthwhile risk. He played some really good games, I think one game he got about 12 marks and 2007 was a pretty good season from him. I think also it is worth noting that it seems the Swans withheld medical info from both him and Carlton. He may not have performed at the level Carlton hoped when they traded for him, but I think his is far from the horror story of Luke Livingston or Mick McGuane.

Played juniors with him, not sure on comparisons, but tall, takes a good mark, can kick long, very fast (nearly faser than me at that level, probably is now)

Wtf?

Seeing as we don't actually know how incredibly fast you are, why do you feel the need to use yourself as a yardstick to describe Kite's speed?

I've got you in the second round of my phantom draft, by the way. You sound like a gun!:thumbsu:
