cricket,
i also watched the redlegs today and although i was wrapped with tex i was really pleased with kite. although he didn"t get that much of the ball i love the way he moves he seems to have a lot of time. i think he will be a GREAT ADDITION TO OUR TEAM. what does everybody think of his progress.
p.s how bad was he hurt?

Re: arron kite

Yeah i watched the first game as well and noticed he had a good turn of pace and his disposal by foot was very good.

Re: arron kite

I thought his disposal by foot was his only downside fo the day.

You sure, i cannot remember him missing too many targets by foot. His handballs were a bit askew. He played well in the second and third quarter, look quite reliable down back.

I thought the same, and was actually going to start a thread asking those who have seen more of him as to what his disposal is normally like?

I've only seen him 3-4 times and the more I see him the more I like. :thumbsu:

Re: arron kite

Aaron Kite would have to be one of Norwood's most improved players as the year has gone on. His first few games he really wasn't too sure and looked even timid at stages but now he is turning into a damn fine player for us. Tall, quick and mobile he now isn't afraid to use his pace and try and burn off away from his forwards which he did a few times today. His disposals usually pretty good and he can use both feet very comfortably.

That dirty **** Hargreaves belted him and heard talk Kitey's jaw might not be the best right now. :thumbsd:

Re: arron kite

One of his main attributes would be his acceleration, oh and his love for the game. You can tell he loves playing for Norwood.

But back to his speed, we only got to see it once or twice today, he steps on the pedal a bit like Marty Mattner, but is much smoother and smarter.

Re: arron kite

Gun. Was doing his role well today, as usual, before being belted by Hargraves. Hope he's okay for next week. On the FiveAA SANFL show Trevor Hill said both concusssions (Kite/Davis) didn't appear to be too bad so hopefully he's okay. I was pretty shattered when he went off, because he's already one of my favourites and at that stage I thought we were going to run out of legs with no fit men on the bench and with the out of sorts Vlatko having to go back.

Re: arron kite

Exciting to think what another preseason can do for him. Maybe we have found our ready made mid sized defender to replace Bassett.

Looks more like a taller and faster version. Whether he has the abilty to read the play like Bassett and the balls to go back in the packs in another thing. I am hoping so.

Re: arron kite

Id love to see him play next year, but whether he plays next year will largely depend on the cleanout i'm hoping will happen.

When I was watching today I kept thinking he would be a nice replacement for Bassett. He seems quicker than Bassett but the way he moves and plays his opponent look fairly similar.

Re: arron kite

From memory, Kitey was a bottom aged draftee last year. Had we not drafted him then, where in this years draft do you think he might be taken, given his vast improvement. Late 2nd rounder, early 3rd?

I think the feeling last year was that he would be a mid-late second-rounder this year. Being that he's probably improved more than expected, I guess early second-rounder would be a realistic ask.

Either way you look at it, pick 71 was a bargain!

From memory Rendell said he was recruited as a 3 year project player purely because of his pace however some of his peers were mystified with him being selected at all. And that included his coach.

Apparently he has progressed quite a bit quicker than the hierarchy thought.

I think one poster on here knew the coach and had asked him about Kite and had gotten the response "Good luck with that one", hahahaha.

Re: arron kite

I have said it before but I don't think I have seen a player change so much in body shape in such a short space of time. Pre season he was skinny and had no real muscle but he has really built up well and gotten taller at the same time. He has relly come along way and like Walker loves playing for Norwood. I suspect he won't play this week though.

Re: arron kite

Does anyone give him a chance at debuting round 1 next year? Or still a bit early?

Only going by yesterday game he looked good and IMO not without a shot.

Definately in the Pre-season cup.

How he plays in that will determine weather he gets a go in round 1.

I see him debuting in the 1st half of the season regardless.

:thumbsu: yep, also with Bassett's departure, there is an opening. but i believe he will debut next year, it will just come down to form and whether he'll be able to demand a spot and keep it.
You do have to worry about one thing though. What the hell is he doing with his hair?
love the hair; it's his trademark. anyway, Cook's hair looked a lot worse.
