Earlier in the year it was a no brainer to have him as Captain as he was scoring around 150 a week. But now he seems to be struggling a little so would you go for another cats player like Selwood or look at other guys like Riewoldt, Goddard, Judd? Perhaps just keep Ablett and hope he comes good??

Interesting one this. You would think he's a lock in captain for the season. He has been struggling of late, and I too, am thinking of giving the captaincy to someone else. I've gone agaisnt him as skipper twice this year, both times he scored 40 more that the player I had chosen. I am tempted to go with Gibbs this week, but, I know that the second I take the captaincy off him, he will play remarkably well and score big.

Suddenly we have to think about it, Ablett the immortal Supercoach captain has become a mere mortal.

The challenge is to try pick the player who is going to fire on a particular day. We have the other consistent players who will get 90 - 110 each week as regular as clockwork, the Judd's and Coreys but to pick the bolter who will win it ... or lose it for you?

Didak? O'Keefe? Johnathon Brown? 50 or 150 ...

Wish I had made Goodes Captain last week ...

I'll be rolling the dice and taking teh captaincy off JAJ this week and giving it to Swan. Couple of reasons;

1. Cats are playing Sydney. Sydney games are nototiously low scoring dour, low posession games.
2. Collingwood are playing Richmond. Swan should kill them.
3. Ablett will probably be manned up against Jack who is becoming one of the best defensive midfielders in the comp. Shuts down his man AND runs off as required.

I'll be taking it off him this week. Options include Montagna, Dal Santo, Selwood, Goddard, Riewoldt...gotta get it right, my opponent will have a refreshed Brad Sewell (if he comes up) as skipper.

Everyone always says this but Ablett scored 254 against Sydney last year.

Anyway, the best reason to take the captaincy off Ablett this week is because he probably won't play.

he also scored a 155 against them last year in round 20 at ANZ stadium... so in the 2008 season he averaged 204.5 points against the swans.

but dont let me try and talk you all out of making someone else captain.

Normally if Ablett isn't looking right you could go straight to Bartel who always seemed to lift when Ablett was down, but Bartel doesn't look quite right in the last few weeks either.

Without Swan but I have a few other options Goddard, NDS or Riewoldt (if they make it back). Or even a Pendles, Judd or Broughton (but probably won't as I'm not sure how much ball he would get with a struggling Melbourne)

I've seriously thought about it, but playing in defence he is gonna need the ball to go down there in order to score and they have melbourne this week.

I'ld love to pick him but I'll probably stick with Gaz...

Glad I stuck with him.

And thanks to the poster, can't remember who it was, who highlighted the fact that last time Ablett was criticised in the media, he hit back with a vengeance. Like he did this week. Was probably the deciding factor in Junior retaining the (C) in my squad...and has kept my season alive. :thumbsu:

Can all the media plebs - ALL OF YOU - please take it in turn over the remainder of the season to bag the little maestro each week!!!!!!!
