Ok, so if Ablett keeps going the way he is he is going to be worth at least 750k come the start of the 09 season. So will anyone be picking him up for that price or will you take a punt and hope he drops his price?

Just interesting to know as everyone is making threads left, right and center about him in your team.

If he is $750K plus, I'll will probably not get him but rather waste 1 trade (hoping he drops) in round 5.

My mistake this year was not getting him in round 4-5, as I didn't think he could maintain his form...but $750K is too much for me.....

Having said that....he is a pretty good captain...LOL so I might get him for $750K

I bought Boomer Harvey and Mitchell for just a bit more than that... I rather have 2 guns then 1 gun.

I bought JB at the start of last season when he was 723k. I regretted it. I could have instead look for a couple of underpriced guns. ie. Kerr and Kornes for next season- They should be about 450k each= 900k in thotal.

Think about it this way, next year there will be a lot of cash cows in the midfield. You could start the midfield with Ablett, Haselby, Cousins, Prismall, Coughlan, Rich with Dangerfield and Rookie in the middle. I cant see any point starting 2 guns if Cousins decides to play. You could ad Reilly, Thomson and Selwood/Gibbs who i think will breakout next year.

Don't have Ablett this year and it's killing me and my captain's scores have been nothing to write home about either, so i have said to myself that next season i will be getting Ablett and making him captain every week.

My mistake this year has been buying players with big price tags, eg. Cornes, Shaw, J Brown, Riewoldt, Chappy, Dal, etc. They all fall-noone can keep up their price for 22 rounds. Gary is a freak, but at that price one 60 will make him fall 50K. Besides, look who you could have got cheaply (under 500K) this year-Cooney,Pendles,Mattner,Burton,Murphy,porps, etc

Questions:

Who bought Bartel for $680 at the start of the year?

Are you happy now?

Ablett is awesome but so was Bart last year (not quite as awesome though I think we'd all admit) but $750K is a HUGE risk.

Yeah getting Bartel at the start of the year in your team doesnt look like the smartest move in the world does it?

Hindsights a wondeerful thing though. Its just the risks you have to take in this game. :o

Bartel is the 15th highest scorer in the competition. Ridiculous comment. Yes there have been a few guys who have averaged higher in midfield but to have a poor year and still be averaging more than pretty much everyone else is something you'd be willing to pay top dollar for. Who wants to bet against him averaging 115+ for the season again?
