1stly, this thread aint meant to be racist, but they (aborigines) wonder why they are treated so badly, yet last night showed why, that was a discrace those riots in sydney, they did there own name no good and action should be taken!

Please do not ban me for this, im just saying that a few of these people give there people a bad name, i know some good aborigines, but the stuff that happened last night was clearly a discrace!

That's fair enough for last night, but not fair on how they have been treated previously. It's easy for us to forget the past as we weren't the ones with the wrong end of the pineapple in our hands.

Things will take time to change and the key is having the respect of the aboriginal elders. They have a big influence on the kids within their community and we need them to be teaching their kids positive things about our community rather than negative things (like the elder saying he was proud of the riot).

As much as they have been wronged in the past, at some stage they need to move on.

As one of the most oppressed and abused subcultures of any society, Australian Aboriginals are extreamly passive. It is a wonder this sort of thing isn't common place, with the intolerance and missunderstanding that exsists within the Australian culture towards the plight of the indigenious men and women of this country.

Respect for Aboriginal Elders? Surely you are joking. Perhaps you should read this.

http://www.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,4057,8697338^2,00.html

"Redfern elder Lyle Munro told the crowd gathered at the scene of the riot they should be proud Redfern's young people had stood up to police.

"There's been a stand made in the 'fern once and for all," he said.

"The stand had to be taken and was taken by some really brave young black people that we are immensely proud of."

This clown should be thrown into jail. This is racism in its element..... and I hope this **** gets some retribution from the white families of the policemen and women who were hurt by these ****. Australia's only crime was not for what it had done in the past.... but that we did not follow the lead that Tasmania set back in the early part of last century.

I don't support genocide. What I do support is equality. If these things want to live in our culture.... live in our cities that we have built from the ground up... then they can abide by our laws. If they don't they can go back to their tribes and live under tribal law and in a system with no welfare and handouts. Lets see how much they enjoy the "hardship" us white people put them under.

Respect from, not respect for. Go read it again.

To elaborate: We need aboriginal elders to respect our laws and our way of living. Once they respect and trust us and no longer believe we are here to screw them over, they will stop brainwashing their children that we are here to screw them over. This will take a long time.

They have been calling it Invasion Day for years and we let them get away with it. I wonder what would happen if I turned up to an aboriginal ceremony abusing their beliefs.

Can you please tell us why you refer to them as ****?

Is this a troll or do you seriously think this?

I think its about time we stopped with the bull$hit. For tooo many years they have been using what happened over 150 years ago as a reason to get pity. Look at the benefits they get.... Abstudy... medical assistance.... university places a ahead of white people who deserve them.... jobs head of white people based on the colour of their skin. We have bent over backwards for these people for how long now? We gave them the right to vote.... yet how many of them do you think actually vote? I reckon it would be lucky if there was 5%.... if that.

Then why did you say we should have followed Tasmania's lead?

There is only one way to read that & it is that you support genocide, oh & stop calling them things", rascist ****.

Are you aware we live in a democracy where there is freedom of speech?

I wonder what would happen if I turned up to an aboriginal ceremony abusing their beliefs.
Why don't you try it? Oh please oh please oh please oh please.

We were killing aborigines as recent as 35 years ago (someone please confirm or correct) and we have only been giving them equal rights such as voting for about 30 years.

To be fair we have only been treating them as equals for 20 or so years. These things take time. Don't forget they aren't as educated as us and it will take a long time to bridge this gap too.

They are less privelaged and have bigger health issues. We have an obligation to help them integrate into society - don't assume this is the same as giving them a free ride.

For about 20 years (imo), but we have hardly been bending over backwards. We have been treating them fairly and sometimes giving them extra leeway.

We gave them the right to vote.... yet how many of them do you think actually vote? I reckon it would be lucky if there was 5%.... if that.
Once again, it will take time. DO you really expect them to jump up and start voting as soon as we give them the right?

S.A

I have been in NZ, the last week ( beautiful country by the way). Now im not real cluey on our history, but an odd comment came up by a driver we had there, when i made a comment about the mauris. He suggested that, only as recently as 1967, did S.A, ammend there laws to make "hunting" aborigines a crime. Surely this could not be true??

So I gather from most of the posts here is that nobody here has a problem with these **** throwing rocks, starting fires and destroying property?

I am not Aborigional, not do i have any aborigine friends, i have known many, but none up here.

Danny Green, i have never said anything against you while a majority of other posters here believe your a tool.
At times i thought you to be entertaining, and actually agreed with what you have to say more often than not.

But with this thread, you have lost me forever, you are a sub-standard human being...Simple!!!

I can totally understand why Aboriginies call Aussie day Invasion day, because thats exactly what it was! and Invasion.

White mans (see Great Brittain) history taught in this country for over 200 years has been a perverse history, conveniently leaving out all the horrors they inflicted upon the lands owners.

They are still treated like cr@p by alot of white australians, like you.

Oh yeah you try and point out equality and all that cr@p and that if they came to our cities and played the game our way then they are accepted.

Ever thoughyt of being a polotician..

Why the *** should they come to the cities?

These people have been treated horrifically for over two centuries, and still it continues, their voice is rarely heard because people like you just dont get it.

As someone said, it appears you support genocide, well thats exactley what the Brittish practiced on these people.

White man will eventually kill the entire aborigine race, and people like you, with opinions like yours, have contributed heavily to this.
It will happen, i wonder how many full blooded aborigines are left in Australia.
I was under the impression from a book I read a few years ago that there is no such thing any more.

These people symbolise this land we love so much more than we white fellas do ourselves.

It is their spirit that u feel when u get away from the cities.

I agree that there has to be mutual respect, but I believe we owe them a million times more, than they could ever owe us.

By the way, read up about Bennelong, see how he was treated by both black and white, when he tried to fit into both cultures, it may be over 200 years ago, but is still very relevant today.

YOU MAKE ME SICK, IF ONLY THOSE ROCKS WERE THROWN AT YOU

PRI(K

The fact that you used the word '****' proves you to be an imbecilic, ignorant and mind numbingly thick, racist b@stard!

If i was a mod here, i would've banned you for that post alone.

They don't have to come to the cities. They can bugger off back to their aboriginal settlements.. thats exactly my point. If they want tribal law well go back to the tribes. If they want to live in Australia they have to abide by Australian Laws not aboriginal laws.

Please don't confuse the Australian Aborigine in the bush with the racist half casts that have been brought up in the city. You say these people symbolise this land they love so much? The same people who were burning and torching the land last night?

I wish they'd stop using Victoria Square to get smashed off their faces. Do it under the bridge over the Torrens.

Drunk aboriginals in Victoria Square, Redfern, Perth City Railway Station..... do we see a pattern emerging here. They even had to have a taskforce in Perth because aboriginal kids as young as 12 were in Northbridge after midnight on the streets... Al Fresco Restaurant owners were complaining that these aboriginal kids were walking up to people's tables taking food and spitting in their meals.... yet some people on here start up the "racist" line whenever people like me try to point out the problem.... their response like Save Ferris is to keep saying "sorry" for all the things we did to them. Well some of us have had enough of the Sorrys. If the Prime Minister of Australia refuses to say Sorry then why the hell should we.
