abortion

It depends. One can do damage. On the other hand, you can be perfectly fertile and un-harmed after ten.

Some of the variables include age, how far along the woman is in her gestation, if the job itself is botched, and unrelated health concerns the woman has. A short list might include:

Number of previous pregnancies (full term or not)
High blood pressure
Heart problems
Smoking, drinking drug abuse
Bleeding disorders
Immune system compromise
Emmotional problems
History of cancer or cancer in the family
Predisposition to excessive scarring or cysts

That's a short list, but a pretty good one. A young healthy woman having a professionally done abortion in a reputable, sterile clinic should be ready to rock after about six weeks.

Good luck to the friend to whom you are passing this advice along to.

Peace,

very worried about her as she is extremely overweight and this would be her 2nd abortion in the past year or so. Considering she doesn't know which one of her internet ***** is the father i am encouraging her to go with the abortion but its her decision and am worried about her thats why i asked sorry to offend anyone!

Well I've only had one, so I can't really say for sure since I don't plan on having any more. :p Might be worth doing a google search or something because there are probably sites on the net that could give you heaps of info. :)

A friend just gave me a link to this site, I haven't looked at it but maybe it'll be useful:

http://www.abortionfacts.com/

and another:
http://www.prochoice.org/

maybe you should point your friend to a good site on contraception too...that way it eliminates the need for her to go thru this.

(and no, i am not pushing a moral judgement here)
well i am thinking and hoping that she is too frightened to even go on the net again after this ordeal

What otaku said, and obviously I don't know her, but I'd suggest some sort of counselling too. I hope she's alright.

Spidey, abortions performed in a hospital or clinic by a qualified doctor should not pose any threat at all to a normal healthy woman. It's the 'backyard' abortions that are the problem. That is why abortion should be legal!

Also if this is your friend's second abortion in a year I suggest she learns about contraception and responsibilty!
Whilst I agree that all women should have the choice of abortion, I don't believe it should be used as a form of contraception. That is just sheer ignorance and lack of responsibility.

Definitely the first step would HAVE to be counselling Spidey, I mean you didn't really say if she wanted to keep the baby or not but even if she'd be a single parent it's a good idea that she takes a little time to think about it.

In my case I was pretty friggin stupid. I'd been with my boyfriend for almost a year and we'd talked about kids and got a little irresponsible I guess. I don't think we'd expected it to happen so quickly but it happened. Turns out that when faced with the reality of a child, my man promptly ended our relationship and left the decision entirely up to me. I wanted to keep it but a couple of months later I was told the baby had a very very small chance of even making it full term and I got very sick anyways (as I have my own health issues) so the hard decision had to be made. I wouldn't have another abortion though, it just seemed that it was meant to be this time. :(

Anyways Spidey if you want some help convincing your friend to stop seeing net guys, I'm happy to pass on full details of my relationship with my ex to her, might make her think twice. ;)

Thanks Mooster! I know you must have seen the results of some 'backyard' jobs in your time, and a clear and concise reply like yours is always appreciated!

Spidey, I'm not sure if this is the case where you and your friend are, but up here for a woman to have an abortion she must first attend a counselling session with a registered organisation like 'planned parenthood' or the likes, who then give them the referral to the clinic. They encourage partners/families/friends to attend these sessions with the woman, so if you are able it might help both you and her if you went with her to the session and obtaining of the referral.

Bee is spot on in her comments I think, as are those before her. Unfortunately I doubt that this situation would deter her from the net seeing as it is the 2nd time it has happened, so take the woman somewhere to get some readily available/free-if-you-can't-afford-it contraception. Infact these days I think it is pretty standard practice to offer the 'rod' contraception insertion at the time of an abortion - encourage her to take it up!

The internet has more power than first thought. So when you press "Connect" does the computer magically impregnate woman.

i dont appreciate smartarse comments on this issue but then again i wouldn't expect all men to understand they just help cause it!

thanks for the advice girls. Am the last person to talk about contraception but with this one i think she does it on purpose. I'm pretty sure she got councelling with the last one. Sad thing is her last boyf didn't even go with her for the proceedure so i think i'll take her this time as we have been lifelong friends.

Hope that your friend gets what she wants, Spidey.
Look after your friend, it's great to see that you are concerned about her.

Gee that's awful if she does it on purpose. :( But gawd if she's going to meet random strangers off the net, it's almost essential to use some kind of contraception. I guess it isn't really the time to preach to her though, just get her through this first. Just give her as much support as you can, it sounds like she needs a really good friend at the moment. I hope it all works out for her. :)

You can get three before it becomes a serious problem (although, it's probably already a different sort of serious problem if you have to have three abortions...). A friend of mine had had 3 by the time she was 18 (we don't think she knew what contraception was). Her doctor told her next time she wouldn't be able to have one and had to change her contraception from the pill to depo provera.

So, basically, no more than three. And prevention is better than a cure.

Yes it is in Australia but there are always lots of crazy religious nuts who think that 13 year old girls should have to be made to have an unwanted baby.

In countries where it is illegal you can only imagine the ordeal for the young girls who have to go to the "backyard clinics".
It's frightfull that some idiots want abortion to be illegal in Australia.
